I just started collecting first week of Oct. Now I am running out of room.

At first it was just titles that were region free or region a.
Then it turned to it doesnt matter what region it is as long as I like the movie.
Then it turned into I dont give a damn if the movie sucked or not as long as the steel looks cool.

I am fully addicted now. Welcome to the world of steelbook collecting.

Is it possible that you give up steelbook collecting soon?
I mean we do eventually get bored from all hobbies, dont we?

I am sure something else will come along and I will be OCD over that as well.

If DVD's are included in the package they will not work unless its Canadian.

For languages you need to check the packaging screenshots.

I would not advise using ebay. Use the trading forums here if you can.

Futureshop is based in Canada.

Good luck.
China is Region C, located on the Continent of Asia

thats kinda misleading information

All SteelBooks (or blu's for that matter) from Canada and most Asian countries will work just fine on ANY US blu-ray player since they are all at least Region A.

If you are looking at importing SteelBooks from other countries, it is best to do your research to determine how long it's been out to determine how easy it is going to be to get, whether it has been re-released in an amaray, whether or not it is region locked or region-free, and whether or not it was released with the exact same case in another country. While I'd say most German, French, and Italian SteelBooks have their respective languages on the back covers, but there are some out there that have just artwork or actually have English on them.

If there is a SteelBook that interests you from overseas, look for pictures of it inside and out to determine if it has artwork on the back or writing on the actual SteelBook and not just some paperback or slipcover. Even if it has writing on the back, there are some that will actually still be in English, even it is from somewhere like Korea, Thailand, or China (Avatar Extended Edition was like this-all English SteelBook).

well isnt that the rarest of all rare lol. i would get that aswell if i had an oppurtunity to. i just want all my collection to be all american with no foreign texts or logo's. i guess im a bit of a snob but i'm happy i do this or else i'd go really overboard with this steelbook collecting. i bet i'll be done finding everything i need by feb at most.

Yeah your right. Although I have never seen a region C locked disc before, or a region C steelbook for that matter. But your right.

When in doubt, regionfreemovies.com has a pretty large database of region codes. (As stated above, US/Canada are region A for BR and R1 for DVD)

Out of the 15 Steelbooks I currently own, only 2 of them are imports (21 and Fight Club), the other 13 are from the UK.

I like Steelbooks but I've never really liked the ones with much non-english writing on them (especially in the movie title), like this for e.g:
[Show spoiler]

And that along with the fact that I dont really want to pay most import prices when including delivery to the UK, I just stick to getting mainly UK ones.

I just got into Steelbooks a few days ago and am already addicted. For me its the thrill of the hunt since they are so rare here in the US. Yes, its easy to order off or Amazon or Ebay, but its fun to hunt down the rare in-store Steelbooks here in the States.

Yesterday I scored the Best Buy exclusive Salt and the Walmart exclusive Resident Evil Afterlife, and it was a fun experience both times.

Having said that, I've also ordered four Steelbooks from Futureshop via Amazon.ca. It wasn't nearly as fun to order online as it was to purchase the others in-store, but the Steelbooks I ordered will be much enjoyed nontheless.

I have yet to order any foreign Steelbooks from non-English speaking countries as aesthetically I prefer mine to be in English. But I might order something foreign down the line (the Korean Avatar intruiges me, although I already own the non-Steelbook US collectors edition).

Importing is always the way to go - the friendly folk here will help you along the way.

The only question is - is it financially feasable for yourself?

I only import Steels from the US or Canada, as I hate non-English text on it! I can cope with the French on Canadian Steels, as at least there's English on it.

But other than that, I do not own any other Steels from other countries and I do not intend on doing so. I am aware that other foreign countries do have Steels with English, but am only sticking with UK, US and Canada!

Only annoying thing is trying to get a copy when places such as FutureShop do not ship to the UK! But I have had great help from forum members here!

Also, the costs to import are sometimes ridiculous! Which is also a good reason to limit yourself to certain Steels!

Yea but those two just came out so they arent as rare yet and so that makes them easier to find. Try finding an Inception steel or a Iron Man 2 steel here in the US in stores. Got Em!!

I just got into steel books when salt came out at bestbuy. I got so lucky and was able to find the last copy at my local bestbuy even though online said my local BB was out of stock the day of release. Also I knew i should have ordered inception steely from fye, but i was to cheap and lazy to do so.

My 2nd steely was resident evil afterlife at walmart, which really got me hooked. Only because alot of people were getting it early at walmart, so i was determined to get mine early. My local walmart didn't get it till the release day, but a walmart 20 miles from me, i went to on sunday, in which they actually had afterlife early and to my surprise all previous RE steelies. in which i got 4 steelies that day.

NOW IM HOOKED, i can't wait for the next steel for me to buy. Most likely i will order a couple from amazon.ca when i get some $. And i thought 2010 i spent alot of $ on blus, this year should be even worse.
