I used the controller for about 2 years which worked fine but I was always forgetting to shut them off and I would run down the battery. I've been using the BD Remote for about 2 years also and prefer to use it when watching movies.

I love this remote. Only thing I wish it had was backlit buttons.

May I suggest a Harmony remote? Might make your life a little easier.

Been using the remote for about 2 years. Won't use the PS3 control now for movies. Only knock on it is that it's not backlit, but after 2 years, the buttons are memorized.

My receiver remote already controls MOST of my TV functions. So, the TV remote just hangs around in case I need to access TV settings. So, that's not too big of a deal. Still, that's beside the point because the Harmony will only help downsize my "collection" by 1 more unit since I still have many PS3 controllers lying around. Actually... now that I come to think of it... I don't think that I've tried to incoporate our cable box into the receiver remote functionality. We used to have the absolute basic digital COAX cable box which wouldn't match with the remote. But, we have recently upgraded to a proper digital cable box. I don't think I've tried with that one yet... hmmmmm...

I think I know what I'll be doing before bed tonight.

UPDATE: Ok. So I managed to find a code that works with my cable box. The GUIDE button doesn't seem to work and I have to go about getting to the list of programming via a 3 button click.

They are used for some BD disc fubctions, eg. setting a bookmark to easily go back to that point in the film.

Other than that they can also be used with the Play TV DVB Tuner just like any other TV remote.

I forgot my ps3 controller 4 hours away from home and went out and bought the BD remote without realizing it need to be linked through XMB. Is there anyway to access XMB without controller to link remote?
Thank you
