FX Orders 'American Horror Story' from Ryan Murphy

We kinda got a description in the article I posted. Makes it seem like a case of the week type series and something new in the house.

The mysterious thriller revolves around husband and wife Ben (The Practice's Dylan McDermott) and Vivien Harmon (Friday Night Lights' Connie Britton) who move their family from Boston to a haunted San Francisco home in an attempt to rebuild their family after a miscarriage and affair."

That still just sounds like it was written in two minutes. Every fall show has released a massive paragraph and that's all they give after all this time? Yeah this show is going to suck just like Nip/Tuck and Glee. I'm out yo!

Yeah they aren't being mysterious or having people talk about the show. Instead you just have pissed off people who want to know what the hell the show is going to be about. It works for movies ala Super 8 but not for TV shows.

Well what do you know, we FINALLY get a premise for the show that isn't just more vague character descriptions. But a new cast every season, WTF!??! Strange that this will be airing so soon, and at the same time as SOA.

American Horror Story Is Picked Up By FX

I hear FX has pulled the trigger on a series order for Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk's hot drama pilot American Horror Story, from 20th Century Fox TV. The spooky project which stars Dylan McDermott, Connie Britton and Jessica Lange, has been picked up for 13 episodes and is eyed for a Halloween launch with an October 5 premiere. Described as a psychosexual thriller, American Horror Story centers on a therapist (McDermott) and his wife (Britton) who, dealing with the aftermath of the husband's adultery, move along with their kids into a new house that seems to know all about their fears and plays on them. American Horror Story has strong supernatural elements (For example, the housekeeper is perceived differently by the two spouses) and also explores other forms of horror in society. In creating the show, Murphy and Falchuk took inspiration from classic 1970s horror movies, including Rosemary's Baby, Don't Look Now and The Shining.

American Horror Story had been on the fast track at FX since the get-go. It was given a pilot order in February. Before the pilot was even cast, FX president John Landgraf in March said that the project had been earmarked for a fall 2011 launch. But I hear that plan was solidified by the pilot's great testing results, especially in the female demos, fueled by the appeal of stars Britton and Lange. In anticipation of a series order, American Horror Story had already assembled a writing staff that has been working on scripts. Filming is expected to start in about 2 weeks. Co-starring on the series are Frances Conroy, Alexandra Breckenridge, Taissa Farmiga, Evan Peters and Denis O'Hare. Murphy and Falchuk will juggle running the series with shepherding their hit Fox dramedy Glee. This marks Murphy and Falchuk's official return to FX where they executive produced the long-running drama Nip/Tuck, which Murphy created.

Will be checking this out but still wish they wouldn't hide so much about the actual plot is.

After 8 months, it a therapist, his serial killer teenage patient and some supernatural goings ons, lol. Very brilliant Murphy, I'm hooked!

The whole entire plot description just listed and described the characters and that was it. Hopefully the trailers give us more as I'll watch anything supernatural/horror but it would be nice to know if this was comedy/serious or all dark or light or anything.

Yeah it was basically a rehash of the character details from the past several months but I did not remember any of the "dealing with the aftermath of the husband's adultery, move along with their kids into a new house that seems to know all about their fears and plays on them" from before.

That part was new but still doesn't tell us anything. Really hoping for a dark horror show but also has some comedy in it but more scares and horror then funny moments. Just hope it's an old fashioned house with webs etc and not some glamorous and bright mansion as the house will play a big part for me as it seems the house is at the center of it all.

The house will look like it was designed by Kurt Hummel. FAB-ULOUS!!!!!!!

That's what I'm afraid of as it sounds like a haunted house type series so if it has an uninteresting house that could take me away from it as I want an old fashioned, beat up house from 100's of years ago. Not a house that's haunted but looks like it was designed by Kurt or some other fashion nut.

Keep thinking this could turn into a Dark Shadows type series depending on what kind of horror things they bring in though as I'm not sure if they will actually bring in ghosts, werewolves, witches and Vampires or anything like that.

If it looks like Vampire Bill's house from the first three seasons it could work, if it's like Vampire Bill's house in season 4 then no it won't.

Exactly I knew their was a show I was trying to use as an example and that was it. Loved Bill's house in the first 3 seasons but totally hate it in the 4th season.
