They're pretty reliable on such matters. The BBFC site comfirms it as well. Strange they didn't take a 15 for the home release.

Usually you get a choice between the iTunes version and a PC version, there is a disc included with this set but I'm not sure what's on it.

This regards the Australian release:

Actually, all that does is confirm that the theatrical release was cut.

There are conflicting reports on whether the version submitted for video (which received no cuts) was pre-cut or uncut. Even Melonfarmers aren't sure.

Common sense would point towards it being cut as you'd think it would have received a 15, but common sense and film classification don't always go hand in hand.

All Universal titles are region free. If you want the digital copies as well though, I believe they'll only work in the UK.

I guess it's the PAL difference that confuses people, they would have to reclassify it though if it was a different version.

I agree with you. Plus the disc has ratings for UK, Ireland, Germany meaning its likely the same disc distributed throughout Europe. Could it be possible that the DVD is cut but the blu-ray passed no cuts? Kinda like The Expendables where the Blu is rated 18 but the DVD is rated 15?

I don't think Fast & Furious has ever receieved a higher rating than 12, The Expendables had two the theatrical cut (and DVD) and the higher rated Blu-ray (which included the 2 seconds cut from the 15 certificate).

FAST AND THE FURIOUS does not try to be something it is not. Therefore, it surprises me to no end that I will say that FURIOUS is a decent movie. For dialogue, everything is one-lined crazy nonsense. Most characters are ultimately cruel to everyone and each other. Some lame brained antics are done. But it all works out.

Regarding its censorship status, I decided to contact the BBFC to find out definitively and received the following response:

"The version of FAST & FURIOUS classified for video in 2009 is a pre-cut one in line with the cut theatrical version. Usually this is noted on the record for the work. I have drawn this omission to the attention of the team responsible for the classification details on our main website. Thank you for alerting us to this."

Disappointing, but not unexpected.

You did have to read in-between the lines to get the information on their site. I wonder if it's time they dropped the PAL runtimes from their listings or add the Blu-ray running time? If Fast & Furious video had the same running time as the film I'm sure we would have worked out they were the same, without the need to do some math.

Didn't want to start a new thread for it yet until its definitely confirmed (unless it has already and I missed it) but I just got an email from HMV saying you could now pre-order Fast Five with a release date of 5th September - its now been taken down again though.

Looking forward to seeing what Play's Steelbook looks like.

Oh man I'm so glad I held off getting the 1-4 boxset and the single releases. I hope the 1-5 boxset is good, but then they are bound to make number 6...so do I want to get a boxset?
