Hmmm, that's roughly 300.00 USD which is what they are already selling for now in the US. I wonder if/when they bring this out in the US, will it have a price drop or will it simply replace the existing slim at the same price?

But right now it retails for £249.99 so I wouldnt take the £-$ conversion too seriously. You would definately get it reduced. We always have to pay more than the US 9 times out of 10. Perfect example is the 3DS. £230 rrp here. Yet its only $250 where you are

If they do this I too also hope they include HDMI 1.4 and 802.11N wi-fi.

Not that I have had any problems with hackers, but I am glad about this if true.

They should offer some sort of trade in, like trade in your current PS3 and get this brand spanking new one, for only (insert price here), to get rid of the hackable ones on the market now. In fact if Sony played their cards right and added new features to the latest console, I'm sure it would substantially decrease the amount of hackable consoles being used

Sony is looking to bolster its defences against hackers by putting together a new anti-piracy team, recent job listings suggest.

The posts, advertised on SCEA's recruitment site and spotted by Gamasutra, call for a senior corporate counsel and senior paralegal to aid in "developing and implementing an anti-piracy program".

The former will need to display "Deep knowledge of trademark and copyright law" and "knowledge of online investigative practices, online databases, anti-piracy and DMCA tracker products and services".

The listing stated that "the program to be developed will require a strong strategic online component" and will take input from SCEA's marketing, product development and business development departments.

This of course comes in the wake of the widely-publicised Geohot hack earlier this year which saw the PlayStation 3's internal security ripped wide open. Sony is currently embroiled in legal action against the alleged perpetrators.
Wonder if this has anything to do with the new SKU rumor?

If they include wireless N in it I'm sold. Hate to say but the hacking genie is out of the bottle, just keep them off the PSN is all I ask. A bit off topic but I wonder if even 1% of them realize they are killing gaming. This bs already killed pc, dreamcast and psp. Hopefully enough of us are not scum and support the system enough to keep devs developing on it.

Agree with you 100%

You cant play one match on MW2 without someone using a server hack!

That never happened before the hackers unleashed this shitstorm.

And the fact that they can now un-ban themselves and also have the power to actually ban OTHER PLAYERS something needs to be done now.

On a lighter note, I really would like to see N built in. A lot of people tell me to get it wired with anethernet cable instead of using the wifi but my router is at the other nd of the house and on a diffrent floor to where my PS3 is.

Indeed, let's not be fooled by hacker's propaganda. They are not modern-day Robin Hood's who hack to serve the community, but egotrippers who hack to enlarge their virtual penis' length.

By hacking, they destroy honest and fun online gaming environments as well as cause irrepairable financial damage to companies that make games & hardware. If a console/platform is overexposed to hacking, then it's a one-way ticket to the console graveyard and possibly for that company as well.

Indeed. Sony's situation is unique in that although Wii and Xbox have been able to run pirated games for years, they havent actually been hacked to the point of which their root key is in the wild.

I don't think in this case it would destroy Sony. SCE is only one part of multiple enterprises, so its the game devs that are gunna be hurt the most. And then you get people complaining that there isnt enough original content! If it werent for the hackers the pirates would be non existant and Devs would have much more income to support "risky" new ideas for games, rarther than the sequals after sequals, and re-boots we get today.
