Has anyone discovered this new feature that seems to be available for all Disney blurays with a ratio of 4x3 or Standard box? Many of Disney earlier films were not in wide screen, and when played on a wide screen tv, you can expect black boarders on both sides of the screen.
Many people dont like these boarders, and many might attempt to stretch out or distort the image to fill up their entire screen. BUT, the bluray release of several of these have a new feature called DISNEY VIEW. This is a new way to watch these films in the original aspect ratio while the animators have ADDED painted boarders to each side of the screen instead of black bars. the images will slowly fade into new images throughout the film, and the colors, textures and designs will change to match the scene it accompanies in the film. This is like having wings on a stage. It FRAMES the sides and fills up your screen without cropping, or distorting the original image. I only just noticed this with the recent release of Alice in Wonderland, and I fell in love with it. While I dont want to stretch out the image, I hate having the black borders on each side. So this seems like a fair compromise for viewers like me. This same format is available with Pinnochio, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and Bambi. What do others think of this new feature? It is available to turn off for those who dont like it and would rather have the black boarders, but for people like me, I think it's AWESOME!
