Do you think catalog releases peaked? - Page 2 - Blu-ray Forum

Well just from my point of view, there is a definite uptake in catalog this year compared to last. Pretty much among all categories. Taking into context that this is generally a slow time of year for sales, and BD sales have been up every week compared to last year, hopefully the studios feel a threshold number has been reached and increased catalog releases will continue throughout the year. Like I said before though, looking through the announced titles and some of the rumored 4Q titles, there are some very good films do to be released this year. Hopefully I'll be able to afford all the ones I want. I've already slipped into my DVD habit of buying roughly 2-3X catalogs compared to new releases

The rate of Blu-Ray catalogue releases is good right now, but could be greater yet. It's definitely an increase from the last couple of years, and I think the "peak" of it might be coming up soon.

I don't know.

I do know that most of the catalog titles that I want on BD have already been released or coming soon. There are a lot of catalog titles out there, but I don't need to have them all or even just replace my DVDs. There are only a few catalog titles I need.

I guess I'd have to say the number of worthwhile catalog titles have peaked.

It should always be more about which ones more so than the rate they are being turned out.

Lots of questionable releases versus ones folks are dying for.
