I'm from Northern LA and it's amazing how different our part of the state is from Southern LA in terms of culture, religion, terrain, etc. Even Acadiana has regional cultures unique unto themselves. I lived in Southwest LA and it was like TX in many aspects. Average person seeing the show having never visited LA would most likely think we all lived like the people on the show and spoke with subtitles floating at our chests. The only thing we have in common is we all live in parishes. Matter of fact the only time I actually ran into true Cajuns was during Katrina and Rita when a lot of people evacuated up state.
I thoroughly enjoy the show. I watched the marathon the other day on History.

Oh yeah I fully understand how accents change drastically just miles apart, not to mention how different entire cultures are. Like I mentioned previously I've been all over and heard just about every accent there is and the Cajun's remind me of the first time I met a Brit I worked with, who had a very strong accent at first I couldn't understand really anything he are saying, but than within a few hours or days of being constantly exposed to it, I didn't really notice the accents anymore and I started fully understanding.

I've had Gator meat before. Don't remember the taste. I also have some pictures of me with a baby gator.

Gator is awesome IF cooked right. But I love how down in Louisianna everything gets chopped into small pieces, breaded and deep fried. Whether you're eating gator, snake, or turtle it all looks like chicken nuggets.

I think I got some photos of me and some gators too, gonna have to dig em out, all I could find was me and some Kangaroos.

Troy spent a lot of time chasing Big Head, but Tree Shaker sure didn't take long.

I'm on that DVD like Shelby on Turtle Soup!!!!

I'm curious if Tommy will ever get any smarter. He made so many mistakes with the guns in the first season and it doesn't seem like he's improving at all in season 2 either. He's been doing this 20 years and repeatedly forgets to load his rifles. I am just amazed that he hasn't gotten anybody killed yet. He's a dumb bastard.

I really like the introduction of R.J. Molinere and Jay Paul. The arm wrestling competition was pretty damned good to. I haven't been to one in a long time, so It was fun to see again.

I have seen episodes 1,2 and 9 and can't believe Tommy is still not loading the guns as he did that a few times from the episodes I saw. In the second episode Junior didn't really want to take italy guy out with them becuase it would slow him down but don't the film crews do the same though? Or have they never addressed it.

So far I would have to say Troy and his hired gun which I can't remember the name of right now are my favorite team.

I think Tommy has not loaded the guns 4 or 5 times in the last 2 seasons by this point and we're 20 years into his profession, lol.

I don't think the camera men slow them down much they are professional and keep a good distance out of the way, most are in another boat far enough back as to not interfere either. I think several of the boats have cameras attached and that's how we get a lot of the gator interactions.

Troy and Clint where a great team, I was bummed to find Clint is not in this season.

Detective, if you love this show, you should check out another favorite of mine Shark Men, it just returned last week and I LOVE it. I have a thread for it here. I don't know how so many of you guys love Swamp Men but NOBODY but me has been watching Shark Men.

That really sucks that Clint isn't in this season. I totally forgot about them attaching cameras to the boat's to get the close up shots.

Cool I will have to check it out. Would you recommended Deadliest Catch also as that seems interesting and I know it has a good following.

Clint branched out to captain his own boat, so that's what happened with that. I used to watch Deadliest Catch and I've met several of the crews and captains, I also went to school with one the greenhorns and at least 5 of my buddies are fisherman in Alaska and the Berring straight so I am quite familiar with what they do, but it's not the same show it once was. I was a big fan of Captain Phil but with his passing the show isn't much fun for me anymore. I know there are still a lot of folks who enjoy it, but I am no longer a fan of the show.

Shark Men is different in the respect that instead of hunting and killing the sharks they catch, tag and release. It's all about scientists trying to learn as much as they can about white sharks and preserve their species by data collection. It's still quite an exciting show to watch these guys catch the sharks and rally them onto the lift. It's quite impressive to watch. In the first season Paul Walker was actually part of the shark wrangling crew because he is a big supporter of ocean work and was personally invited to help them. I was quite surprised by this and he did good work.

Yeah it seems like if I did watch the show I would stop at his last episode as I always here he made the show what it was and without him it's just not the same as it used to be.

The first season of the series aired under Expedition Great White, but for season 2 they renamed the show Shark Men, so I'm not sure what you'll find the first season listed as. I don't recall if he was in the first episode or not, but he was in several episodes. Before they cut to him on camera and I just kept seeing him in the background, I kept saying woah that deckhand looks an awful lot like Paul Walker, so needless to say I got a good laugh when he was introduced.

Bruce became my favorite hunter on the show last week, after he showed his undying love and devotion to his friend and boat mate Tyler. Anybody that loves their dog that much is a genuine and good hearted person.

Those two new Guist brothers sure are some swampbillies. They are hilarious characters and I love their home made boat and just how simple but fun they are. They definitely enjoy life and they have nothing but a run down shack and each other.
