But I was just trying to say as far Brando's early work which is so lauded(Waterfront, Streetcar, etc.)... I feel that this Performance by Newman is right there with any of those... If not better.

But I overall feel that Newman is greatly underrated I guess because of his looks or something, and I really feel he put in a career's worth of work that greatly rivals Brando's.

Both are in my Top 5 Actors to ever Live though.

And yes, I argree that this film contain's Scott's best performance as well...

Think George C. Scott's best performance was in Dr. Strangelove,but was brilliant in The hustler too.

What a fantastic classic getting an HD facelift! Newman was great in this but Gleason steals every scene he is in. Without question the greatest movie billiards ever made. How about the sequel The Color Of Money... That needs a little Blu action too!

Newman made a joke about sticking to "H" films in the 60s... The Hustler, Hud, Hombre, Harper... Love to see all of them on blu, but The Hustler and Hud are my faves. But really, along with Butch Cassidy, Sweet Bird of Youth and Cool Hand Luke, what actor had a better run in the 60s?

Can't wait for this one.
