How much does amazon.co.jp charge for shipping to Canada for something like this. These seem to be about $60 on there versus $80+ on yesasia.

The amazon price is the base without shipping, right? When I imported, Nausicaa in November and Laputa in February, I think amazon was cheaper with the shipping factored in. I think Yesasia has the shipping already included.

Correct, but I ask my friend at Japan buy, he will bring back when he back to Malaysia which means no delivery charges for me

Nice.

Who wants to start guessing when the next miyazaki release will be? I will be so devastated if we have to wait until December.

Has anyone seen Arrietty? What did you think of it? Seeing as how I would have to wait a year to see it unless I import it

Disc is region ABC, with the audio and subs listed in the main listing,
extras, about 2 hours worth of video-based extras, storyboards picture in picture, dialogue script (in Japanese only) with the availability to jump to the scene you are reading. None of the extras have subtitles.

Thanks for the headups... damn, I've got to take up Japanese again...

By the way, slightly related, the Hong Kong version of Castle in the Sky Laputa has been released a couple weeks ago. I will pick it up on my next paycheck. For a HK version, this BD is consider expensive (for around USD 30), but it surely beats paying upward USD 80 for the Japanese version.

Well, YesAsia shipped mine this morning, so hopefully I've got it by next weekend. This is probably the most expensive blind buy I've ever done.
BTW, is there a preview for Goro Miyazaki's latest movie on this? I haven't seen one online yet but it'll hit Japanese theatres in like a month or so, would be nice to get a sneak peak at it...

Thanks for sharing those pictures, the packaging looks really nice. I have been considering importing these Japanese releases, but haven't done so yet.

I am anxiously awaiting Arrietty's US theatrical release in February 2012; it will be the first Studio Ghibli film I see in the theater! Hopefully the post-theatrical US Blu-ray release doesn't take as long as Ponyo's did, which I believe was 7 months.

No preview for the next Ghibli movie. Only 2 previews: the same date release "Ghibli's Bookshelf" and for Chomet's "Illusionist"

Maybe there will be a preview on the whisper bd? They must be so swamped trying to push out a new film this summer, but I am still anxiously awaiting the next catalog miyazaki releases. Dreaming of kiki, Porco, or mononoke ... totoro is fine as well.

Acquiring this Borrower Arrietty movie now, I'm not waiting till 2012!

Hopefully its better than Ponyo which I found extremely disappointing. I wish Miyazaki would continue the slightly more mature attempts

Very basic story, boring characters, no depth, Disney-like & focused too much for a young audience (like 5 year olds )

This is the only Ghibli movie I hated (2nd worse is Pom Poko but it wasn't THAT bad)

I've heard that a trailer has been rolling in Japanese cinemas, but outside of that you almost can't find any info at all about it. It opens in less than a month over there and the most I've seen from it is a screenshot or two from the official homepage. I for one really liked Earthsea and I'm very anxious to see how Goro follows that up

I liked Goro's Earthsea too That movie got a fair bit of a bashing from everyone else but I found it pretty good even though some parts were uneven, obviously its hard when being compared to Hayao as everyone expected it to be better than the master or something

Can't wait till the Ghibli videogame comes out!

Finished watching Borrowers and I liked it Impressive how it felt like an adventure & how different things are when you're small. Sure other movies have done it but this one really nailed it

I still wish for something in the sense of Princess Mononoke with action scenes & a bigger scale of adventure. Its these types of movies that get more replay value from me
