I'd say it's doubtful that it WON'T get a better transfer.
Who says it's completed?

And by the way, Van Ling hasn't worked on the SE since 2009, so while it is possible that the new BD will use the new remaster, I highly doubt it.

I might get this for the digibook as a collector's item if I can find a decent price. My shelf has room for both the digibook and the long-discussed restoration when it finally comes out, but I certainly wish they were one in the same.

Buying this first day, too bad about the cover art. What is with these studios remaking cover art for blu ray releases??? They are ugly, and that particular image isnt even from the movie.

I will be picking this one up. Not sure if I am going to sell my current version or just go with the double dip.

As a big The Terminator fan I'll be buying it as long as they keep the "The" Although it would be nice to see some new artwork using old images like:

No talent there from me but there's lots of talented people here on the artwork thread and it's a shame Fox don't do a Google search for something new.

As for the transfer on the present Blu-ray I'm more than happy with it and I don't want them DNR'ing it to death so it looks like a video game for idiots.

Regardless of what anyone thinks about digibooks, the fact of the matter is that it's going to contain the same 25GB disc from 2006, which is lacking not only the original mono track, but also numerous extras that were on the special edition DVD (as well as more recent, unreleased material apparently). Personally, I'm done with waiting for a proper re-release of this film. Seeing this digibook set to be released with the same old disc is the final straw for me. I will not be rebuying "the Terminator" even if it does come out eventually with a new transfer, the mono track, and the whole nine yards. This repeated "re-packaging of the same old disc" behavior has worn my patience thin.

Cool looking, but I don't think this art ever belonged to the original release. It looks like some T4 tie-in, which doesn't make sense (like, Arnie not bankable anymore ?), we all know the first and second are the best. Not the rest.

Correct, I'm done. I don't care if it comes out with a new 4k master + mono audio and bonus features, I'm not going to buy it. There's simply no reason this film shouldn't have been released properly on Blu from the get-go.

I'm sticking with my ultimate edition DVD

Only a remastered edition can persuade me to buy the Blu-ray, not a silly digibook packaging.

To each his own, I guess. I'm still waiting for a proper release of this and Terminator 2.

I believe this is a high-definition format forum dealing with Blu-ray. The Blu-ray from Fox/MGM has a great transfer and is vastly superior to that low resolution DVD. This new book release is -yes- another rehash selling to people in the main who already own it or to people new to Blu-ray and that are attracted to the packaging.

The UE DVDs and all the other DVDs (I have several!) are very nice but they are low grade quality images ie DVD.

The Blu-ray is a massive upgrade as long as you're watching it on something bigger that an iPhone.

I hear they're planning a new edition wrapped in leaves. Yes, leaves.

I may buy it

That image I used for the book:

That's an original very early promo item without the "The".
