I know that Sony own the cinematic rights to Spider-Man and now Disney have it for The Avengers, so it's all pretty complicated, especially since huge film companies like that never see eye-to-eye, but maybe they can work something out in the end.
It is possibly. Wasn't there something about Sony and Disney trying to get the Oscorp building into The Avengers but that it didn't fall through due to post production nearing completion? Of course it was just rumors, but if there's any truth in it it could be possible. After all, Spider-Man's one of the biggest characters outside of the MCU, and i bet Disney would be willing to give Sony some serious $$ to at least use the character outside of the Spider-Man franchise.

Yes there was a rumor about using the Oscorp building in The Avengers. That would of been cool to see. It would also be nice to see a cameo in The Avengers 2 or 3, but I want them to focus on the sequel of TASM first. Hoping Webb comes back, because I liked his direction on TASM. I'm sure he can learn from a few mistakes and make the sequel incredible.

My first impression was it was
[Show spoiler] Mysterio. They have been trying to get him into the films for a while now and it would make sense with his appearing out of nowhere. Also, Mysterio is just a guy with advanced technology, so he could have got it from Oscorp.

I still think this new franchise is the perfect setup for Morbius and Man-Spider. I'm not letting that one go.

That'd be interesting, but I just don't think the audience would really want to see that. I wouldn't mind, but it would probably have some issues unless there is a popular, classic villain.

As far as unused Silver Age Villains that even Sam Raimi didn't want to use, they're down to him, the Vulture, and Kraven the Hunter.
The first makes a better main plot, while the latter makes a better B-supporting character.

Long before they were trying to cram Venom into SM3, Sony had an idea for trying to shake up Peter and MJ's marriage by bringing in a forbidden fling with the Black Cat. (Presumably as a B-villain.)
Would seem a bit too, um, familiar after Catwoman in TDKR, but that would pretty much reflect the reason she was in the comics to begin with.

Default The Amazing Spider-Man 2 - Webb and Garfield CONFIRMED!

Andrew Garfield and Marc Webb Confirmed for The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Quote:
Andrew Garfield will return to the role of Peter Parker and Marc Webb is set to direct as Columbia Pictures prepares to begin production on the next installment of The Amazing Spider-Man, it was announced today by Doug Belgrad, president of Columbia Pictures, and Hannah Minghella, president of production for the studio. The screenplay is by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt. The film will be produced by Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach. The new chapter in the Spider-Man saga is set for release in 3D on May 2, 2014.

Emma Stone is also in talks to return to the blockbuster franchise and is expected to reprise her role as Gwen Stacy.

The new film will begin production in early 2013. Webb, Garfield and Stone previously teamed on this summer's blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man, which has taken in more than $751 million worldwide.

Commenting on the announcement, Belgrad said, "We could not be more confident in the direction we are taking this new Spider-Man storyline and we are tremendously excited to be ramping up production again with Marc at the helm and Andrew continuing on as Peter Parker. We can’t wait to share what we have in store for Peter and Spider-Man with audiences worldwide."

Mysterio should be the villain already! Throw in Rhino as a goon too.

well now that the whole "orgins" reboot part is out of the way. the sky should be the limit for the direction of the franchise.. lets hope they don't screw it up.. Personally i would love to see a Venom/Carnage/Spidey battle.. but that will probably never happen.. and the way teh first one left off it just wouldn't work.. with that being said i would like to see Green Goblin(non power ranger looking) and possibly the Vulture lurking around town

We don't need any more wasted funds on more of that crap. Let him work on what he knows how to do and bring back Evil Dead

Now Webb is stuck doing commitment projects for a long time.

Wake me up when he goes back to original and interesting projects.

I didn't have any doubts that Garfield would be returning. Webb however I thought might take a pass. I'm glad he's directing again. I enjoyed the movie & franchises directed by multiple directors tend to be uneven feeling usually. I think the first one layed the ground work well for what has alot of potential to end up being a great trilogy.
