the problem with CARS 2 was the script, visually it was stunning - the 3D though didn't enhance it, I would have rather seen it in 2D digital projection - to really see the detail that the glasses obscurred.

It's up for preorder on Amazon US as well, the five disk combo (w/ 3DBD) is 34.99 and there's a 7.00 Disney coupon that can be applied as well:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/search?node...Y90|B005AUWY2W

The email I got said the coupon is only good through 07-21-11. I wasn't a huge fan of it at the theater as I discussed above, but I preordered it as the kids really liked it.

I thought this one was less boring than the first Cars, but it was missing something. There were some very interesting scenes (racing and action), but I'm not that big a fan of Larry the cable guy. Both my kids, 7 and 9, thought it was great.

ET Confirms the Release Date as November 1:

http://www.etonline.com/movies/11341...DVD/index.html

Interestingly, the four titles Disney announced a few weeks ago (Bolt, Meet the Robinsons, G-Force, and Chicken Little) come out 1 week later on November 8. Might we also be getting the Toy Story trilogy on Nov. 1?

I too watched the trailer and I'm not rushing out to buy it. It's a sequel that seems to fail from the story perspective and the 3D concept alone is not enough to extract $$$$ from my wallet. Disappointed actually.

Need to change the date. ET confirmed 11/1 (and it appears 11/1 will also be the date for Toy Story Trilogy 3D).

it's not bad, it just feels like two movies that never quite meet up except briefly:
Movie A is the obvious sequel-itis first-movie expansion of "Lightning finally gets his career-upgrade dream to race the world, and has another obnoxious rival to defeat...But now that he isn't a selfish jerk anymore, has to worry whether he's leaving his small-town friends behind for fame, and losing Mater."
Movie B is "Mater's Tall Tales: the Movie...Ever tell ya about the time I was a secret superspy?--Shoot, you remember, Lightning, you was there!"
(We even have the "I don't believe it!....(character from story shows up)" Radiator Springs ending right on schedule, although since Lightning actually WAS there, he's not the one who says it this time.)

Sounds like they were originally going ahead with Movie A, and Lasseter thought it was the right concept but too thin, and Movie B was probably dropped from the shorts' storyboards for getting too feature length.
The schizophrenia shows, but it's not like we particularly hate either one; some of us just wanted a little more Movie A than B.

(And the 3-D is basically just there--If you want 3-D Racing Thrills, try the PS3 game instead.)

wish i would have used the $7 coupon on amazon when i had the chance. the price on this is down to $26.99 which would put it at $19.99 with the coupon. oh well! i guess i will be using the DMR coupon and buying it at best buy for $24.99 instead.

****EDIT****
scratch that... i just put it in my cart on amazon and it applied a $5 promotional credit. not sure what it was for but $21.99 for a 3d blu ray isnt bad

for those with Disney Movie Rewards Best Buy is advertising $19.99 with the use of the $5 off DMR coupon - thankfully though for some of us who pre-ordered the disc on the early end + the $7 off deal Amazon's sale price equals out to $19.99 too

This came in the mail today from Overstock.com (Paid $19.99 + $2.95 shipping, no sales tax). The lenticular slipcover has a silver-color frame. Very shiney. The Cars 2 logo is embossed in the lenticular area. NICE! As you can see, there is a tiny dent on the top-left edge that happened during shipping, but it'll flatten out. Sorry for the crappy pics:

There is an insert in the case promoting the Toy Story 1,2,3 3D combo packs, but no coupon or discount (bummer!).
Also inside is an offer to purchase a Cars 2 lunchbox (like the Best Buy Lion King lunchbox) by mail from DMR. The price is not mentioned.

Way cool! Thanks for the pics

I got a notification from Amazon that mine shipped, I preordered with the coupon months ago so it was 19.99 with free shipping. I loved it at the theater and my kids did too, it'll be great for movie night I also got a notification that the Toy Story 3D collection shipped too, so we've got plenty to watch!

Default Cars 2 3D - Lots of glitches?

Cars 2 3D - Lots of glitches?

Hey has anyone else watched their new Cars 2 3D Bluray yet? And if so did you have any glitches where it would pause briefly and then start right backup?

Please let me know if you had any issues.
Thanks,
TJ

YES! But not only that.......

I went to BestBuy & picked up Cars 2 3D along with Toy Story 1,2,& 3 (All 3D Sets) and was rather surprised to find that the Cars 2 Blu Ray was full of issues.

Cars 2 stop paused at the end of each chapter & restarted at the beginning of the chapter causing me to need to FFW just past the point of the Glitch not to mention several other hick-ups with the disk..

Toy Story 1, 2,& 3
With that said I figured I had best check the Toy Story Trilogy (bought separate) to make sure they were OK before heading back to BestBuy to exchange Cars 2, it's now almost 2am and oddly I've found that Toy Story 1 was OK (just 1 small sound chirp early on) but Toy Story 2 had the same issue with 1 chapter resetting (when Woody's friends enter the toy store & He's getting repainted), as for Toy Story 3, It's a mess also? Again resetting & glitching constantly making it a chore to get past the part at the beginning with the flying pig scene (After the train falls from the bridge)..

I wonder if this was part of a bad batch? Having over 40 3D movies already I found myself updating firmware, checking wires, All my equipment is less than 30 days old. I even checked all of Disneys 3D Films released just to be sure, everything from Tron, & Tangled to newer Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, & Pirates ect....

So, curiously EVERY 3D Blu-ray but the ones bought today work perfect? I plan to show them at the store on their equipment before exchanging but have to wonder what happened?

If anyone else has issues I'd like to know... Feel like I was going crazy today

Currently running the Samsung 550 series 59" Plasma w/ Samsung BD-D6500 player. All Firmware updated.

Just one scene during the big meeting of all the Lemons. The screen froze for about 30 seconds, then started up again. The rest of the disc was fine.

Did anyone purchase the Box Set of Cars? Target has it listed for less than Best Buy in case anyone is interested.

I have the same issues and I have the same Samsung player as Waszak. Perhaps Samsung needs to release a new firmware update?

I think that might be exactly the issue, as this issue was occurring on my Samsung as well and updated firmware to most recent and issue still occurred, but when I played it back in my PS3 tonight it was just fine.

Thanks for everyone's help.
