Okay well im going to weigh in most might not like what I think of some of the games...

Infamous 2

It matters if I held it to my standards after beating Infamous 1,
which was in my opinion a horribly buggy game full of me wanting
to break the game. If held to say my expectations after prototype
it a interesting toss up.

Uncharted 3

I loved (minus the church jumping) U1, U2 I liked but found it started
to get repetitive, you can only push the bad luck thing so many times...
till it becomes worn and annoying... and everyone knows how much I
Love platforming...

Mass Effect 3
Im pretty sure bioware could shit and box it, and it will still be a
amazing game.

Resistance 3

I liked number 1 big fan, number 2 was a disappoint the coop
campaigns could have aligned into a actually story instead of
random missions and the single player campaign made me wish
I could fight alongside my bud. Not holding my breath.

Batman: Arkham City
Oh im sure it will impress someone...

FEAR 3
Passive matters on how the coop is going to work.

Deus Ex Revolution (technically a sequel)
You know with each Deus Ex you have part disappointment and part
non disapointment, and each installment takes 1 step back in one
field and one step forward in another. I expect it to be just as good
as Deus Ex1 but in a different way.

Duke Nukem Forever
Oh I believe with enough love anything can be fun to play.

Battlefield 3
While the trailer completely shocked me, dice being the devs has me
quite worried they seem to like to release games nice and broken
and maybe they will fix.. and I better not see bullet holes in the
skymap...

Next Call of Duty Game
Well after Call of Duty 2 on PC (ww2) cod died in my heart so yeah..

Alice: Madness Returns
I played the original.. it was quake 3 engine.. trust me they don't have
to do much to make it better. (I made a booboo corrected engine
thanks to merrick97 for pointing it out)

Prey 2 (dunno if this a 2011 game)
Never heard of it.. skipping in reference of going to the
next game in the list not literally.

Just for fun: Gears of War 3 (mods can remove this)
On one hand Never played Gears of War so no idea, but its made
by epic games so I at least would give them the benefit of the
doubt.

And now for the ones that you didn't mention (naughty boy)

The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings
dunno to be honest...

Red Faction: Armageddon
To be honest im kinda scared about this one, I think visually
it will have improved but I feel like im going to be missing my
blow everything up topside...

Dungeon Siege III
DS1 had no plot or story as far as anyone could tell.. well at
least not a coherent one.. DS2 tried to add story..
After seeing the new devs it looks like this is going to be less
DS but the trailers have calmed my worried.. character with
rifle and dual pistols...

Now my fears is this is going to be more story driven and less
DS...

Postal 3
I expect this one to be actually better then Postal 2, in fact I
know this will keep me amused with humor that shouldn't be
funny but it is...

Max Payne 3
I have no idea what my expectations should be for this.. time
has passed since the last Max Payne...

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Well the dragons scare me but everything else looks good I think
this will be another great addition to the elder scrolls saga. (note
trailer is on the ps store so...)

Saints Row 3

Oh I imagine, after there ball kicking trailer showing off there "mocap"
on getting kicked in the balls, this tells us everything we need to
know...

If the rumors are true about Modern Warfare 3, and the storyline focusing on Ghost's story before MW2, then yeah CoD by a mile. I was willing to take a peek at MW3 if it came out in these post-Zampella/West Infinity Ward days if it was going to at least close out the Price/Soap storyline, but I'm not going for it if its an offshoot storyline.

The story in MW2 was so implausibly BAD I can't say that I am looking forward to anything related the Captain Price/Soap.

eh, is the story in any FPS game really all that good? All I ask is that they're compelling enough (with a healthy dose of badass moments) to keep me playing. I think most games do that well enough.

What counts more in those types of games are gameplay and quality online multiplayer

You know I remember when I first was invited to GAP (Gamer
Advisory Panel) Sony asked us what we thought about online
multiplayer (back in ps2 days) I told them it was a horrible
idea and that online multiplayer games were a fad that would
disappear one day.. Guess I was wrong about that too...

I assume I'll be somewhat disappointed with COD without the original IW anywhere near it.

I went with Duke Nukem. It is a game from a different era and I think it will seem dated when it comes out.

Oh no doubt. There were story/plotholes so large in that thing that you could drive a couple of those BTR's in the game through 'em. Still, just like any storyline, I would like to see some sort of closure. Hell, I sat through Star Wars Episodes I-III just to finish Anakin's story

I am going to say COD. When Infinity Ward got disbanded in my opinion, it seems like the guys responsible for the 2 in the series I like the most (Modern Warfare and Modern Warfare 2) are gone, just not going to be excited about it.
Sad part, I will probably buy it day 1. Did not care for Black Ops at all.

Maybe a good story driven FPS could take on the market like Uncharted did with TPS genre.

I actually thought Black Ops was superior to MW2. I found the conspiracy portion of it intriguing and I couldnt get past the bad plot holes in MW2.

Not MW1 though. That game was fantastic.

maybe, but it's near impossible to get your standard military FPS to not stumble into the typical cliches and rehashed themes. Plus, I think most people are happy with the standard plots that play out in the CoDs, Battlefields, and Homefronts of the world. They're entertaining enough and filled with action.

One could argue that Bioshock did that for first person shooters (especially considering the original had no multiplayer). Plus, neither Uncharted's story was all that great or exceptionally groundbreaking - it was the execution that really took it over the top.

Its great that you think that, but feel free to tell us what game you think could be disappointing and why.

Here are my reasons that I could come up with that could make Uncharted 3 a disappointment

So how could UC3 disappoint?

Well, the story could end up being weaker than the first two. UC1 and 2's strengths were they had a cinematic strong story that had great digital acting that was backed up by strong (but not necessarily groundbreaking) gameplay. If that ends up being weaker then it could hurt the overall game and I can see people being slightly disappointed.

I want to make it clear that being disappointed does not necessarily mean that the game will be bad.

Dead Space 2 was a disappointment to me not because it was a bad game. Far from it. But because I felt the developers went overboard in trying to give more of what people liked from the first game by going more into shock value territory instead of old school scaring tactics that was more pronounced in the first one. Plus they made some questionable decisions in the game to make it more difficult by upping the cheapness factor and that NEVER works.

I went with Mass Effect 3. I still have my ME2 in its shrink wrap, probably going to see if I can get a good trade for something better like Socom.

After hearing all the hype about ME2 being this amazing game, I then got to play the demo on the PSN.

ooh, I would not judge a game based on the demo. Especially one as story/dialogue-driven as ME2 After all, the Uncharted demos weren't all that great IMO.

Trading that game in would be the biggest mistake you EVER make. Its the best game on PS3 and yes, even better than Uncharted 2. The demo was underwhelming because it shows you NOTHING in regards to the actual scope and quality of the game.

But hey dont take my word for it, its only got a score of like 96+ on metacritic.
