I know there's been some defective blu-rays released, most of which the companies have replacement programs for getting the proper disc. I'd like to put all the info into one thread. I've yet to participate in any of the exchanges, but am going to start swapping them out this week. If anyone can add to this thread with any info, like which discs are defective, whatthe defect is, websites or contact info to get them replaced, or any other tips it would be appreciated. Im going to try to keep this thread going as a master resource for people who procrastinated like myself. A one stop shop if you will. 2 that I'm aware of off the top of my head are Criterion's white disc from the 3 colors trilogy and the remake of Total Recall. Any and all positive input will be greatly appreciated.

Just search for "replacement" or "exchange", and you'll get the threads for defective discs that have replacement programs in place. |

Nothing I noticed - youve done a great job. Glad it was already done, wasnt really looking forward to making one anyways lol. This thread should be a sticky, it's a great resource.

Dredd 3D (2012) should be added to the list as there are plenty of reports of it being totally unreadable and Best Buy recalled the discs.
Check the Dredd 3D thread. Lionsgate is also offering replacement. Lionsgate can be reached at 1-877-230-2756 or by emailing lionsgateshop@orderassistance.com. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...=212694&page=7 Last edited by hazelwu; 04-20-2013 at 11:24 PM. |

A note should be added to the 2012 Total Recall notice. Sony has not fixed the disc and is simply telling people to switch their sound to PCM instead of bitstreaming the audio. When people sent in their disc for exchange, all they got in return was the same disc.

Has anyone experienced or even heard about a problem with this Stargate 15th Anniversary Edition release? I'm experiencing a playback issue on two different OPPO players (both the BDP-83 and BDP-103).
Specifically, when I play the extended edition of the movie and I try to access the popup menu, instead of the movie shrinking to a small picture window to allow the popup menu to be accessed (which is what's supposed to happen), the video disappears, the movie audio remains, and ONLY the static background BEHIND the popup menu is visible. This problem does not arise when viewing the theatrical version and accessing the popup menu. Now, when I tested this on a PS3 and a Sony BDP-S570, it played fine. So, I thought, there must be something about my old OPPO BDP-83 that's glitchy, which is unlikely, but whatever. I've searched on various forums for the last 4 years for answers without luck. Much to my surprise, after testing this on my newly purchased OPPO BDP-103, I'm still experiencing the same playback issues that the old OPPO had! Now, I realize that Lionsgate has released 2 different versions of this edition, a VC-1 and an AVC codec, with the VC-1 codec version being problematic, but is the problem I'm experiencing due to this? If so, then why isn't there a mail in replacement program for this? |

The chipset isn't clocking the TrueHD bitstream correctly so when there's a branch on the disc it loses track. So Total Recall has the same errors. The MI4K doesn't branch so there isn't issue with its TrueHD track on certain players. Decoding to PCM in the player should resolve the issue.
