You don't hardly get anything on ebay for a dvd these days so can't be bothered with that option, so anything I haven't given away yet is now sitting in my loft. I have started adding an insert tray for some Blu-rays for extras discs from a previous dvd edition (Spider-man 1 & 2, Kingdom of heaven) which shamefully haven't been ported over to the BD
That's the problem with DVDs, because as soon as they're no longer a new release, they instantly drop in value, which is an issue when you're trying to tell them on.

Thumbs up

i sold all my dvds at a carboot sale in 08', been on the blu since ps3 was released in '07, but keeping them is best i would think, adding them to the blu release as a dvd copy and storing the cases is very sensible as others have suggested.

I've kept mine, the vast majority I wouldn't plan on upgrading to blu even if they were available or upcoming except for rare exceptions where I loved the movie.

Well, leaving them in a box marked "FREE!" is cheaper than posting them to other parts of the country, lol.

I sell the ones that are still worth a few quid and give the rest to the local charity shop.

If I buy the Blu-ray version of a film I have on DVD then I will try and sell the DVD, because I have no reason to keep the DVD. I still have DVDs though, because I can't afford to replace my entire collection. Although, I do now own more Blu-rays than DVDs.

The DVDs I'm hoping to replace in the future are the Star Wars films, Goldeneye, Tomorrow Never Dies, Rush Hour 2, Die Hard 3 (if it ever releases in the UK...) and maybe Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life (still trying to decide whether to buy the first film on Blu or not, because of the mixed opinions on the PQ).

Sold all my DVDs in one big lot few years back on ebay.

Rather sell them all in one go and less hassle.

I'm storing themfor when the apocalypse comes and there's no more physical media. We need to preserve film. It can't be left up to gigantic hard drives.

Hmmm, it is something I haven't decided on yet. I have one Blu-ray title where I already had the DVD, but the DVD has loads of great extras, whilst the Blu-ray has none whatsoever, so it is great to have both. So I'm not sure what I will do if the Blu-ray has the same or more extras, as there would be no purpose having the DVD. I don't think you would get that much for secondhand DVDs anymore either, so I guess I might just keep them.

Due to huge storage problems (2000+ DVDs plus almost 300 BRs) I try to sell as many DVDs as possible. Everything I own on Blu AND DVD is for sell although there are some titles you don't get anything for so I just keep them. Good idea to put the DVD in the BluRay cases! That thought never occured to me.
btw: here in Germany many Warner titles go oop so you actually can get some decent money for some DVDs.

Very surprised so many people are dumping -what was I assume- precious goods for pennies.

If it's a space issue, buy less crap.

Don't think I'll have the problem as I won't 'upgrade' existing DVDs.

Quality isn't everything. My ever growing BD collection is still complimented by a large number of DVDs and many betamax cassettes that I still enjoy watching from time to time.
