The director, Zack Snyder, did mentioned that 18 minutes of the film were cut out to obtain a PG-13 rating, and it has been rumored that those cut minutes will find their way into a Director's Cut of the film upon home release, but, like others have said, no way to be sure until the details are made public.

You'll either love it or hate it. I did not get to see it during its inital run, as I had intended. Then I got around to read all the reviews up till then, good and bad, mostly bad, which led to some hesitation on my part, but, a part of me was still drawn to it. So, I took a leap and I'm glad I did. Imho, it is a remarkable film - but it took a few viewings to really get it. It has already become one of my all time favorites.

True, there are a lot of bad reviews out there, but I wouldn't say that "a lot of people hated it." Think about it, domestically it made more than $36M, more than the studios expected, and more than $53M internationally. Now, I am not trying to sell the movie, but there is some merit somewhere in there.

If you have not seen it yet, a blind buy would not be recommended - rent it first, if you could. If you don't want to miss out on any store/web exclusives, if any, go ahead and buy it - you can always return it for a full refund.

Edit: hidef al, there is definitely a lot of action.
