Yes I have seen a film score sell out overnite at these sites. Once it is Sold Out $40.00 is going to seem like a steal. (Keep in mind since this is a film it may not sell out as fast)

These are just a few CD Soundtracks originally licensed to some of the above labels mentioned now on Ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/BURBS-Jerry-Gold...item4cf665cb0b

http://cgi.ebay.com/ISLAND-Ennio-Mor...item5642edb331

(Keep in mind the film doesn't matter usually the film composer for many collectors. There are really bad films out there with really great film scores :-)

Not to mention the movie has never had a U.S. DVD release.

You can listen to the films score (Music) track as you watch the film.

Very cool. Thanks for explaining. I got greedy and ordered 2. An extra copy might come in handy down the road, for trade and what not.

well I placed my order because I really want to support these guys, but there's no way even at 3000 copies this will sell out that soon imo.
I totally get the soundtracks selling out quickly, but this is a completely different deal.
in fact, I wouldn't be surprised to se the dvd sell out faster than the bd, and imo it would have made a lot more sense to make this a dual release.
anyway, I hope this will be a smashing success and that they will get the rights to lots of other older studio classics.

Just pre-ordered my copy. A terrific film unjustly ignored by Fox over
the years. The production values are high, the score is magnificent,
(Newman and Herrmann), and the scope images are unforgettable.

$40 x 3,000 = $120,000 gross - rights costs - film prep - scanning & digital work - pressing/duplication - packaging costs - taxes = ???

I'd love to see their income statement.

The 5.1 has been confirmed as lossless by Twilight Time on their FB page.

Now we just need to know if that IS&E track will be DTS-HD MA as well...if so, then I will purchase, even at $40, to show appreciation.

It's 6,000. There will be 3,000 copies each of the DVD and BD.

Twilight Time just confirmed the IS&E track is also lossless.

Just ordered a copy. It came to $44.30 (!). Hope it's worth the money, and that we get more titles.

Indeed, so if they sold all 6,000 copies ((3000 * $39.95) + (3000 * $19.95)) they would gross exactly $179,700 (i.e. not a whole lot).

Usually the score labels generally do the releases because they are fans etc themselves. I know a few labels have said in the past when licensing work from either be it WB's, MGM etc that there are times when they may not even make a profit and when they do make a profit they roll over that cash into future releases.

In many cases labels like Film Score Monthly, Intrada, Screen Archives etc can work on a title for many years before it gets released. They usually have to locate the music masters etc to even get the scores released.

I think Intrada's Back to the Future release was a long time coming. Most of these companies have great relationships with studios and are usually loyal to each other. For example Film Score Monthly works closely with many at WB's being able to acquire specific titles for release.

Why is the font so tiny?

I do understand and appreciate the labels who take the time to show proper care to their titles, and it looks like Twilight Time may be one of those labels. I'm just hoping enough people are willing to pay the admittedly high price to see more of the same quality BD releases. Certainly if The Egyptian fails, more possible Twilight Time BDs are put into extreme jeopardy.

I am curious in what steps they were able to take for the HD transfer.

I got a reply from Screen Archives Regarding the sound etc.

On the Blu-Ray, the feature audio is 5.1 DTS Master Audio, the score is 2.0 DTS Master Audio, and the commentary is 2.0 DTS @ 255kbps

44 bucks with shipping.. Ouch! However, this many be the ONLY opportunity to purchase this outstanding movie. And when you consider the cost of two movie tickets, a couple of cokes, popcorn and a pickle (Yes, I like pickles) that could easily add up to 35 dollars. So for a few more bucks, to be able to view this wonderful film as often as you want... anytime you want... I'll bite. Going to pre-order it right now. Thanks to all of you for your posts on this film. It helped me make my decision.
