well of course it will go down after a few months so I'm sure more than a few people will just wait it out.
still great news that it is coming out.

The film tells the story of Ackerley's fifteen-year relationship with his German Shepherd Queenie, who had had been renamed Tulip for the book. The film – geared toward an adult audience was adapted, directed and animated by Paul Fierlinger with backgrounds and characters painted by his wife, Sandra Fierlinger."

From wikipedia, but it's not much.

Well, look at Kino's BDs...they are generally very good to excellent. I've yet to see a serious U.S. independent label (Blue Underground, Kino, Magnolia, Image, etc.) really botch the A/V on a BD release.

well 1 week out from this being released.
still shocked at the absurd msrp.
I mean a $50 msrp is just absurd imo.
I wouldn't pay that much for any single bd that was a domestic release no matter what film it was.
what is New Yorker Films thinking with this price point?
besides selling maybe 3 copies on release day.

It's Amazon's price that's unfair--I don't care what the MSRP is, but $44.95 is way too high for one film--and I'd like to know how much leeway New Yorker was given in setting the Amazon price (if any).

Of all places, CD Universe has this up for pre-order at the much more palatable $25.45 (+$2.99 S&H) right now. I did alert Amazon to it, so hopefully the price will drop accordingly there.

Yeah I put that price into amazon at least a week ago, but no action on the price yet. I'll probably just cancel my amazon preorder and order it on that site.

I pre-ordered with CD Universe to lock in the $28.44 price...if Amazon's changes, I will happily switch back. I REALLY want to support New Yorker--I hope the BD is technically sound, though--but I'm simply not paying $44.95 for a release sold from Amazon.com. The standard markdown should be 30%, not 10%, so the Amazon price should be about $34.99 at the most. Hopefully, they can get down to $27.99 or lower before release day.

And let me say, I'm also surprised that we don't have any cover art yet and that we don't have final specs for the BD.

Wasn't expecting the book to come with it
I guess we'll see when we get it this week (or maybe if we get it).

Unsurprisingly, release day has come and everywhere is either OOS or backordered.

I hope the Blu-ray appears...

The $28.44 at CD Universe isn't that bad, especially if it does come with the book like it says in the description on that one site. I really hope we get this.

I'm guessing you didn't get any news McCrutchy? I just sent an email to the "DVD" address on their website. Is that where you were emailing?

just call them; google New Yorker films and the site has a phone number.
there is actually not really a "site" per se; it's just a home page--that's it.
a lot easier than waiting for emails.

But I'm at work right now. Didn't notice the phone number when I looked at it earlier.

I just called New Yorker. A gentleman confirmed that the BD release has been further pushed back and said that he didn't have specifics in front of him right now, but that retailers should have the new release date shortly.

He also confirmed to me that the BD will be a limited edition and include the memoir and extras not present on the DVD.

He also said the Amazon pricing is at their discretion, so unless they decide to lower it, I'll be keeping my $28.44 order with CD Universe.

We found my e-mail to them was in his Spam folder, by the way...
