I can agree the acting nearly killed the movie for me. I guess to many, that's part of its charm. The only good acting was from the night of the living dead zombie actor. The bad acting might grow on me like the very first Evil Dead. I think I might get the Vinegar Syndrome release.

This complete cinematic trainwreck looks WAY better than it should, on the new VS 4k uhd. Considering the barely competent amateur source, this new transfer is transformative and incredibly watchable. Primaries are deep and saturated. Grain is thick and intact. It suddenly looks like it was filmed in 2008 instead of 1988. The decently-mastered synth track is a high point as well. Horror collectors and fans of the film alike should be utterly thrilled with this transfer, considering all prior releases of the title. Leave it to VS to put this kind of remarkable effort into such an obscure, hinky underground curiosity. It's always struck me as the product of a group of college grad students deciding to make their own homegrown, raunchy home-video cross between Night of the Living Dead and Evil Dead, copying a bit from both but with nowhere near the talent, polish or vision of either, although the end result is still appreciably amusing. I'm glad I purchased this title on 4k. On the new platform with a fresh scan and great mastering, it is now a much more viable candidate for occasional rewatches. Especially recommended for fans of very low budget rough-n-tumble '70s and '80s American and Italian zombie gore-horror.

Sorry about the french, but I remember this as piss-poor from the VHS days.

I read that techical merits are great thou, maybe have to pick this up - I have a soft spot for lousy zombie movies... ;-)

It's likely to be the most handsomely restored no-budget dumpster-fire you're liable to come across on the 4k format. Unquestionably a kitschy curiosity piece. Ever laugh out loud while watching a film, and you don't even know exactly why you laughed? This is that film.

Urgh. I'm tempted, but it's a bit on the expensive side...

I think I saw this 20 years ago but I can't recall it very well. Might have to pick it up.

Didn't the guy who stars in this one get in trouble for making it the same character as in the Romero Night of the Living Dead?

I bit the bullet and got this one second hand. This'll suck. Haha.

Well, I watched the VS UHD yesterday, and I have to say I was positively surprised. Way better than I remember it, and the 4K restoration is really top notch.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a lousy movie, but for me, it's in the territory "so bad it's good". ;-)

Well worth it if you like zombie movies.
