Should be the other way around. Cutting cinema releases is just ridiculous, but home video releases, I can understand. A child could not just walk into there local Odeon and buy a ticket for 'I Spit On Your Grave', because the cinema would simply not allow it. Whereas there are many different ways a child could get hold of a DVD copy of 'I Spit On Your Grave' and watch it without there parents evening knowing.

The BBFC outright bans Human Centipede 2

The UK's movie ratings body has taken the unusual step of refusing outright to classify a new horror film - and warned there was a real risk of harm to viewers.

The film is a sequel to last year's stomach-churning Human Centipede about a mad scientist who grafts three kidnap victims together.
But the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has ruled no amount of cuts would allow them to give the new film - The Human Centipede II - a certificate and said the movie may fall foul of the Obscene Publications Act.


The original film was given an 18 certificate and was shown in cinemas, and film festivals, before being released on DVD.
Film distributors had applied to release the follow-up on DVD but its rejection means it cannot be legally supplied in the UK.
The BBFC concluded that the thrust of the film was the "sexual arousal of the central character at both the idea and the spectacle of the total degradation, humiliation, mutilation, torture and murder of his naked victims".


It said: "There is little attempt to portray any of the victims in the film as anything other than objects to be brutalised, degraded and mutilated for the amusement and arousal of the central character, as well as for the pleasure of the audience."


The BBFC said the film breached classification guidelines and "poses a real, as opposed to a fanciful, risk that harm is likely to be caused to potential viewers".


The first film caused a stir when it was released last year by Dutch director Tom Six but it was thought to be suitable for adult viewing.
The ratings body said that "although the concept of the film was undoubtedly tasteless and disgusting, it was a relatively traditional and conventional horror film".

The rape scene sounds absolutely vile. I had no interest in the film but after the controversy surrounding the ban I'm curious to see if it's as bad as people are saying.

Would we want ASDA deciding these points of law for us? No, and that's why no weight can be given to the BBFC as they are also a privately run business. First time in a while I've seen that "R" http://www.bbfc.co.uk/BVV278459/ but they have been doing it for years if truth be told as they usually just cut stuff -essentially a ban.

The film sounds awful but if people want to see it they should as it's only a movie.

The BBFC need to keep themselves as much as possible in the news once or twice a year but I think it's too late for them now because they have no importance although they do still have the power to damage and destroy distributors or those connected to them. That does scare me but I'm sure it'll all come out in the wash.

As for this film, the distributor should simply sell a plastic box with inlay and code. Then ship the disc from outside the UK. So simple really and we all do it all the time except doing it that way the money stays in the UK with a UK distributor and we all get a bit of a laugh.

Distributors -as we know- tend to be short-sighted and very poor at distributing. They could get themselves quite a lot of free advertising challenging the unlawful activities of the BBFC in the manner I've mentioned. Looks like the distributor is Bounty Films which has a connection with Eureka! I hope they have the balls to challenge this. You can easily lock the movies away that is not for kids

so let me get this straight you actually want censored movies

Glad not many see it the way like you because that is just mental to want to buy a censored movie.

If a child was curious and wanted to see something truly gotesque and real its only a few mouse clicks away. Cutting Spit on your Grave and or outright banning films like Human Centipede 2 won't prevent this.
I know some might say, well the parent could prevent internet access. My argument would be he/she could then just walk round to their neighbors and use their internet.

I'm not a fan of this type of cinema, where they are trying so hard to shock you. Boring in my opinon but I don't think it should be censored, and how the BBFC can get still get away with this kind of thing in 2011 is frankly staggering.
