Is this the same disc as the US release? Do you know if its locked? Does it have French text on the spine? Apologies for all the questions! Thanks.

The front cover is exactly like the photo attached. It's essentially the theatrical poster with the names of the actors. Not a single French word. As for the spine and back cover, I'll have to get back to you tonight. I'm not at home right now and will have to check when I get back.

I was going to hold off on this, but I really like the Canadian artwork. Can someone please recommend an online place to order this with a decent price and good reputation? Amazon.ca is on the expensive side, but I could make it happen but the last time I checked they're charging around $10 just for shipping for some reason. It's like 1/3 that price to order a single blu ray from the United Kingdom. $36+ for this just doesn't work for me. Anyone know where I can get a good deal? Thanks.

Okay, here are the details. The disc is region 1 or (A) so basically US/Canada and some parts of Asia. Given it's an adaptation of a classic literature, the title on the front and on its spine is simply "Jane Eyre." There's not a single word of French to be found until you reach the back cover, and even then it's minimal. It's one tiny paragraph of synopsis right below its English counterpart. All the credits, review blurb, and disc specs are in English. Hope this helps.

The retail stores here sell it for $26.99-$27.99 before tax, so with regards to the US price, it's around $22.99? I don't think we have anything competitive right now. In the past, there were a couple of reliable Cdn web merchants but I never buy from them. I stick with amazon.com or amazon.ca so your best bet is probably to ask someone in the Canadian forum. Good luck.

![]() I have to say I'm disappointed by how plain the disc is. Would it have killed them to put some artwork on the disc? |

I pre-ordered this from B&N, and I still haven't received my copy (and I'm a member, so I supposedly get priority shipping). But I'm curious: has anyone else who pre-ordered this get their $5 eCard from them yet? I haven't received that, either.

Okay, there is an easter egg on the Blu-ray, and it's actually quite substantial.
Go to the deleted scenes menu, scroll down, and press down after the final deleted scene, and a book will appear, press enter, and you will access a full audio commentary for the film by Rob Meyer & Ameer Youssef. (2 people who worked on the film, and fans of the novel) So in addition to the commentary by the director Cary Fukunaga, there is a hidden commentary, only accessible by the easter egg. |

For some reason I can't post a review of this disk even though I really am "logged in," so I'm putting my comments here.
This transfer is perhaps--no, for sure--the worst transfer to Blu-ray I have ever seen. Like many subpar transfers, there is throbbing crush is dark scenes, but this disk even has crush even is completely bright ones, as though the movie had been recorded on ASA 50 film stock pushed to ASA 10,000. Then, in another shot, eveything's perfect. Does anyone do any QC on these things?? I thought something might have been wrong with my ancient Sony BD player, but no. The same thing happens on another Blu-ray/TV setup. Movie: 5 Video Rating: 0 Audio: 5 Extras: 1 |
