Why? The entry draft, free agents are all part of next season. There's no discussion of the Stanley Cup here.

I started the thread early because I wanted to start talking about my Habs, that's all. No need to merge, the 2010-2011 season will be over tonight anyway.

Talking about the habs now when its game 7 of the stanley cup finals sounds like your trying to take something away from the 2 teams that worked so hard to get to where they are right now! lets give vancouver and boston some credit and let one of them win the cup first before you get all mushy about your habs, No offense! but it is the stanley cup finals game 7 for peet sakes What if it was the Habs..... hmmmmmm

yes there is and i thought a new thread would be started at least after a winner is declared tonight. seems a little disrespectful to the 2 remaining teams battling for lord stanley's cup.

atleast wait till one of these 2 teams wins

both teams worked really hard to get to where they are, show some respect

What I'm saying is usually the other mods would either rename the existing thread, or merge it. Too many threads created with the same sport. I know it's just general chat, but all these threads are so similar.

Yeah MaCruz you are probably right but... wile still theres one game left in the Stanley cup final , there is also more things going around like any other sport players , coaches being signed NHL entry draft etc .

Sorry macruz, but i think you misunderstood. it was directed to stereomike for what you stated after, it was more of a agreement of what you said about wanting to merge them. i just thought starting this thread before the cup was won was a little odd, kinda like taking away from the 2 great teams playing now for the cup hope you understand now, it was not at you

like when silversnake started the NHL thread for 10-11 season, it was done after the blackhawks won the cup and he did it tastefully IMO.

its like its taking away from the great series we have all watched for the past 2 weeks. let it end first before starting a new season thread, ya know

Sports bring out the emotions in people, it has always been that way and will always be the way. It's unavoidable and inevitable. Sports have emotion and trash talk is part of that. You really can't take it personally.

He is showing respect by creating a new thread instead of discussing it directly in the NHL thread that we have now IMO. Another thread was created before the one I made but it was merged. I don't really care either way, psyched for game 7 tonight but will talk about next season as of tomorrow

Detroit — There's mutual interest between Jaromir Jagr and the Red Wings.

Jagr's agent, Petr Svoboda, has contacted the Red Wings — along with Pittsburgh, Montreal and the Rangers — about the possibility of Jagr signing July 1 when unrestricted free agency begins.

Jagr, 39, has spent the last three seasons in the Russian Kontinental Hockey League but would like to close out his career in the NHL.

The Wings might be interested in the power forward if the price is right. Both sides would be looking for a one-year deal, but the Wings won't want to overspend as they feel secure with their current top nine forwards.

With Avangard Omsk last season, Jagr (6-foot-3, 242 pounds) had 50 points (19 goals, 31 assists) in 49 games.

Jagr has scored 1,599 points (646 goals) in 1,273 career NHL games with Pittsburgh and the New York Rangers.

Jagr is intrigued by the Wings because of the possibility of playing with talented centers Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk, and the team's chances of winning the Stanley Cup.

I wonder if Edmonton will pick Larsson instead of Nugent-Hopkins as the #1 since he's a defenceman. Drafting by position instead of the best player available is very uncommon in the NHL. I think the last time it happened was Fleury in 2003.

Really? It seems to me that Detroit is at the top of many players' list whenever they can choose their destination, for obvious reasons. If he comes back in the NHL, it certainly is to win the cup. Maybe he sees in MTL what we see, which is a team with a lot of potential!
