Knowing Warner, they'll release all the Police Academy movies as double features.

Personally, I'd be fine with that for the sequels. Just make sure part 1 is a solo offering as that's the one most will want. YMMV

So any news on when this is officially coming out or is this just all hype over a twitter post?

I would like to get 1, 2, and 4 but that would be about it for me and only if they sell them individually I would not even bother with a boxed set.

Nothing official yet, but WB bringing in George Gaynes to record commentary makes it obvious that they're planning something nice for the original film.

I think you mean Harris over Mauser. Lassard's in all 7 movies. And yeah, I prefer Harris as well, but Mauser had his moments.

Hopefully they can get GW Bailey (MASH,Short Circuit) on the commentary too, a very underrated actor IMO.

Nice to see 94-year old Commandant Eric Lassard going strong. Then there's talk of the on-again-off-again Police Academy 8/reboot. Bring on the Blus, even if it includes the dreaded 7th film.

I may be crazy but I love part 5 on Miami Beach. It's so bad it's funny. When Harris has Dork on his chest and when his hat goes on fire in the bar.

Thanks for the correction, it didn't seem right when I was typing it, and I had to be quick so I couldn't hit IMDB.
Harris was easily the better antagonist in my opinion and his interaction with Sgt. Proctor ("a ghetto favorite") was great.

The first is a classic. Seriously.
Whatever offbeat synergy made good 80's comedies funny and clever in a goofy way, was refined to an artform in the original.
(When Hugh Wilson is funny, eg. "WKRP", he's hysterically evil-genius, and when he isn't, eg. "Dudley Do-Right", he's just plain baffling. PA1 was in the "Funny" category. )

As for the rest...think "Low-grade sitcom-catchphrase pimping".
