It's no big deal really.
He also reused footage from TF in ROTF and borrowed footage from Eagle Eye to use in ROTF.

If the footage is instantly recognizable it takes you out of the movie. But people need to recall that Michael Bay is known for keeping his movies in or under budget. Most folk are just now becoming aware of one of the tricks he uses to accomplish this.

Didn't know he reused footage from TF and Eagle Eye in ROTF! I just recently watched TF then ROTF and I didn't notice.

I would indeed not feel the way I do if the footage reused did take you out of the film because it didn't fit or work, but it all does work which is why I don't (and a few people I've spoke to) really care.

If he started to heavily depend on footage used from other films then that might suck.

well thats what Ive heard anyways.

Actually this may sound petty but this is a big reason why I decided not to see The Hangover 2

footage of a severely injured stuntman's scene was left in, It was the money shot the director was after. To me that felt morbid and I felt I probably would feel terrible rather than finding the scene funny.

Not sure what the appropriate response was but I just felt after reading the article that I was not into laughing at this persons expense (yea it's an unusual context, I know). Hopefully the TF3 stuntman/woman is on the road to a great recovery..

You run the risk of injury when you're a stuntman. It's part of the job.

But she was an extra, she wasn't a stund woman. Or am I incorrect about that? Because I'm almost positive she was just an extra in the scene.

Seems that, according to the link above, nobody seeing a film makes for quite a paycheck. $162,949,164 worldwide. Don't be such a .
The Island is a very entertaining film.

As for the recycled footage? Are people really going to get bent out of shape over a full 6 or 7 seconds of reused footage??? Come on people. 99.99999999999999% of the people who saw both films would never recognize those tiny clips. So what is the big deal? Seriously petty.

First off, the freeway chase was never completed. The accident that injured the young extra also ruined the shot since the wire let go of the car it was meant to propel and damaged parts of the set and/or props in addition to injuring the young lady. Even had she not been injured, the footage was useless. If they could, they would have edited out the portion where she got injured and kept the rest. They did the best they could to complete the sequence rather than scrap the whole thing.

Second, since the young lady was injured and there was a criminal negligence investigation, filming was halted for a time. Because of that, they lost the location they’d reserved. They would have to draw out new contracts to film there (in addition to rescheduling with the actors) and that would have taken time and money they simply didn’t have.

Finally, nothing pisses off a stuntman more than when a stunt that led to his injury is actually cut from a film. To them it’s like rubbing salt on a wound. There’s an interesting (albeit brief) discussion about that in the audio commentary for Universal Soldier Regeneration.

I appreciate that for sure, thanks. Yea still knowing what the scene was and almost anticipating it, really did put me off!, thats all I can say.

Then maybe you shouldn't speak for everone. You'll make people mad, and they'll get technical by showing you figures, diagrams or charts.

Raiders of the Lost Ark uses footage from The Hindenburg for an establishing shot of D.C. Post-Golden Age Disney animation recycled f/x animation and even character animation and music cues with disquieting frequency.

Not a big deal. Fun to know, but not a big deal.

What - you want your money back or something?

What a waste of a thread. The TRANSFORMERS DOTM thread talked about this a hundred times over, as that thread was out for quite some time (prob. still is).

There's a SEARCH feature on the site that could have found all this out without starting a new thread on it.

Agreed, if you want 15 minutes of fame, make a movie and become popular. CASE CLOSED!

What? OMFG, I am never watching it again. That ruins the whole movie. I'm joking of course, but that is the way some members are acting, in this thread.

Most cars that are wrecked in movies are rented. And they're usually tons of them for said purposes. Had no one gotten hurt, they would have rebuilt and rechecked the rig in order to wreck another car.

The big expense comes from the location. It takes a lot of paperwork to secure a location for specific amount of time. Since someone was hurt and a criminal negligence investigation had to take place, filming gets halted and you lose the time for which you reserved the location. On top of that, if you do manage to eventually separate more time for the same locationn (which involves drafting brand new contracts), you also have to figure out how to get the actors back (as they often move on to the next project before the current one has even wrapped).

It's way too many balls to juggle so the next best solution is to licence footage from other productions in order to complete the sequence (like how G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra used footage from Black Hawk Down to complete Duke's flashback sequence).

The reason people are making a big deal about this one over other movies is because people tend to pick appart movies they don't like yet gloss over such things when it comes to the movies they do like.
