Default Macross Frontier the Movie: The Wings of Goodbye PS3 Game + Movie Hybrid Disc

Quote:
Following last year's release of Macross Froniter The Movie: The False Diva, Namco Bandai is creating another anime x game hybrid disc for Macross Frontier The Movie: The Wings of Goodbye.

Magazine leaks note the Blu-ray version will include a PlayStation 3 game as a bonus, but details about the game have not circulated on to the Internet yet.

Macross Frontier The Movie: The Wings of Goodbye comes out on October 20th in Japan.

I really wish they'd put English subs on these.

Yep, yet another awesome Macross BR movie + PS3 game that we will never see in the US, and will never get an english subtitle for, let alone dub.

How fantastic...

Getting the BD limits you, but you can high def fansubbed MKV from a number of places. Fansubs are usually better than factory subs as they do the songs, etc too.

I have the first BD/hybrid and the game on that one is cool! Only have 10 of the 12 trophies, though.

Is this still the old, good Robotech? The one with Rick and Lisa? (I know, I know, my knowledge of anime is pathetically small). I also liked the Invid series, but don't know if that was part of Macross or just pasted in later.

Robotech was a mash of 3 original series:
Macross (with "Rick Hunter" aka Ikaru Ishijo))
Southern Cross
and Mospeada (known as Invid Invasion in the US)

The two later series have mostly gone by, but Macross is still extremely popular in the Giant Robot genra, probably only bested in popularity by the incredibly enduring Gundam.

Since Macross, we had

Macross Do you remember Love (aka DYRL) - The movie (retelling of the story, considered as a Movie version in the Macross universe itself by the characters)
Macross II (TV series, since disavowed and considered non canonical by Shoji Kawamori, the main man for everything Macross now)
Macross Plus (published in occident by Manga Publishing, fairly easy to find including on Netflix)
Macross Zero (a prequel to the original Macross), OAV series
Macross 7 (TV series very popular in Japan, but never imported in Us due to copyrights problems)

and finally recently .. Macross Frontier, a TV series which then spawned two movies to end the series.

There is a big gap in time between Macross/ DYRL and Macross Plus/ Macross 7, but Frontier is relatively contemporary of these.
