Now that I have has my set a few days, this thing is absolutely stunning. The 65" HX929 was just released, I am going to see if I might be able to exchange the 55" for the 65". If the 65" was available when I was doing this, I would have picked the 65". If I can't exchange it, I am still a very happy camper.Well, no luck trying to exchange the 55" for the 65". They told me that these were limited supply and that they are for people who had issues with the 70" XBR1. Not a problem at all, 55 is all set up and looking fantastic!

Ok guys,
I am looking at the Sony 55hx929 and Panasonic 55vt30. I am torn between the 2 of them. My local stores don't have both to compare side by side I have to go from one store then to the other store. Set me in the right direction by helping me decide. Thanks for your help in advance |

1. Do I watch more TV or more movies? If more TV, Sony; if more movies Panny. 2. Do I like bright, contrasty images or warmer images? If bright, Sony; if warmer, Panny. 3. Is burn-in a big concern to me? If yes, Sony, if not Panny. 4. Is price an issue? If no Sony, if yes Panny. 5. How much do I care about black levels? If a lot, Panny; if not a major concern Sony. 6. How much do I care about fluctuating black levels? If a lot, Sony; if not a major concern Panny. 7. If I get a set with a screen defect, I'm going to freak out. If yes, Panny; if no Sony. 8. Do I care if the set emits a "whine"? If yes, Sony, if no Panny. Comparing them in a store is useless anyway because they're both going to be in "Store blast" mode with the brightness and contrast turned way up. Both sets are great sets, but neither match Pioneer Kuro levels of PQ. I originally thought I would get the Panny, but after seeing both on numerous occassions, the Panny picture left me a bit cold (although it's probably more accurate). I think anyone would be happy with either TV as long as they didn't get a defective model. Now is certainly the time to buy because as we approach year-end prices are dropping. Check prices because you'll be amazed how discounted these sets are from the right dealers. |

I had my 55" HX929 calibrated by Chad B yesterday. I thought my picture looked good before, after he was finished I was amazed! This is the first time I ever had a television calibrated, and it will not be my last. If you have been thinking about getting a calibration done, go ahead, you will not be disappointed.

joebp415, you'll love the HX929.I had the XBR1 and thought that picture looked great. The HX929 blows it away.

Can anyone confirm that there's no blooming with the HX929? I have a 2010 Samsung LN52A750, which was one of the better TVs in its price range. But there's slight bloom/bleed in one of the corners. Is the HX929 susceptible to this??
