Never really been a Joss Whedon fan, but I did enjoy Firefly without having to act like it was God's gift to television like many. It was a fun show.

Never could get into Buffy, though, although it amused me how my parents often acted like schoolkids whenever it was about to start. LOL!

Definitely Firefly, hence, you know, the name. But I like the other Joss shows as well.

Buffy is best overall, but Angel Season 5 is the best season of a Joss Whedon show.

Overall rankings:

Angel Season 5
Buffy Season 7
Buffy Season 6 (this has my favorite episodes, but the second half isn't as good)
Firefly
Buffy Season 5
Buffy Season 4
Angel Season 4
Dollhouse Season 1
Angel Season 3
Angel Season 2
Dollhouse Season 2 (I really wish they didn't rush to a conclusion, closure is overrated)
Angel Season 1
Buffy Season 3
Buffy Season 2
Buffy Season 1

Angel has aged so much better than Buffy has, I can watch Angel over and over but those early Buffy episodes... yeesh. Never could get into Dollhouse, and who doesn't love Firefly?

I agree about the early Buffy episodes, the production values drastically improved in season 4. I've only watched seasons 1-3 twice each, but I continue to watch seasons 4-7 over and over (which hold up just as well as Angel).

Firefly for me.

I appreciate the comments about it being somewhat unfair comparing it to shows that run for numerous seasons though.

Love JW's work though, and there's only really Dollhouse that didn't really do it for me.

Firefly, Angel and Buffy - I could just watch, and watch, and watch.

I was a big fan of doll house. It wasn't as goofy as some of the other shows. However, my all time favorite is Firefly. It should have gotten picked up for more seasons.

Buffy, damn I was 12 years old when I started watching this show. They started broadcasting this show again on German television few months ago and I watched every episode so far. I have to say I still love this show like in the 90s.

A shame all shows by Joss Whedon were canceled Sure, they released the other seasons in comic form, but it isnt the same

Angel and Firefly are fantastic too.

I never watched Dollhouse but will do.

Firefly more popular than Buffy? Episodes like The Body, Restless or Hush are much better than anything in Firefly.

1. Buffy
2. Firefly
3. Dollhouse

Funny enough, I never got into Angel. Only watched the last season cause it was still connected to the BtVS universe and Spike was in it.

Haven't seen Firefly.

Truthfully, I was a big fan of Buffy (particularly the Angel character). Then watched the spin-off show Angel and that remains my favourite Whedon show. Although I thought I read a few years ago how he wasn't as involved in these shows as I thought by the end.

However, how some story elements of Buffy were treated put me off the show and I have no desire to watch it again. I agree it was a zeitgeist show.

Disagree. You can watch Episodes like Restless, The Body, Hush, The Wish, Doppelgangland, Once More With Feeling ect. frequently. Some of them belong to the best Episodes in TV History.

You should rectify that when you can, especially as the BDs are dirt cheap these days!

I don't disagree with you on that matter. However, I was a huge 'Bangel' (Buffy and Angel shipper) before I even knew what the terms meant. I LOVED the Angel character. So much so, I was excited when he got his own show but annoyed at what it meant for the Buffy series. We got Riley, and the fires were stoked even more when Angel crossed over for an episode. I LOATHED Riley. Then they decided to make Spike the love interest and totally ruined his character imo, and to make matters worse they pretty much changed his story and character to make him an Angel replacement. THEN when Buffy ends he crosses over into Angel, pretty much taking away everything that was unique about Angel being the vampire with the soul and having a destiny. They do an episode where both of them track down Buffy in Europe or something like love sicked puppies, not even Sarah Michelle Geller appeared. THEN we get Angel seemingly giving up his destiny by signing a contract with Wolfram & Hart and it all ends on an unresolved cliffhanger. Don't even get me started on what they did with Wesley and Fred. I guess it's not a show for happy endings. I also didn't like the 'Connor' storyline.

I will eventually. I have the movie Serenity after I heard good things but my dislike for Whedon held me back. I actually watched Cabin in the Woods for the first time last year. I didn't like it and I usually love horror movies.

Hmm, depends on what it is about Whedon that you dislike TBH as Firefly has plenty of Whedon staples. The wise-cracking smart-ass characters are definitely a thing, but they're so wonderfully written.

I hated the concept of 'Cowboys in space' which was used by many to describe it. Consequently, I didn't watch it straight away when it aired. When I did, I loved it and ended up consuming it all over the course of one day. Very bittersweet, knowing that it had already been cancelled at that point. Still, despite its cancellation, Serenity provides decent resolution. Plus it's a good movie to boot anyway.

I think it it is the wise-cracking element that is a Whedon staple but as I got older, got on my nerves more. Could be my hang up over Buffy tbh.

Firefly was cancelled too early (one season?!?). I probably will enjoy it. Having said that, it will have to go a LONG way to beat my number one space show - Battlestar Galactica (the modern version).

As far as the wise-cracking characters go, they're pitched at a more mature level than Buffy/Angel. I could see how that kind of thing might have grated with those shows, but for Firefly, I just found it very enjoyable. Guess what I'm saying is, if it didn't work for you in Buffy/Angel, don't take it as read that it won't in Firefly either

BSG was a great show, but totally different, in tone, to Firefly. If anything, Firefly is like a straight drama version of Red Dwarf!

Firefly easily, especially inc of Serenity. Angel is the next runner up.

Dollhouse always left me a bit cold to it. Buffy, I used to like but it's aged to a concerning degree. A few more years and I'll find it unwatchable.
