Some great ones listed, and that didn't make the list. But, my fave is easily The Return of the Living Dead. I prefer horror to comedy, and RotLD comes down on the right side of that. It's bloody, has some gnarly-looking zombies, and is genuinely disturbing with its theme of death and pain (the zombie interrogation scene). The comedy is mostly dark, and comes from the eccentric characters.

My second favorite is probably Re-Animator.

Drag Me to Hell was such a blast in the theater for me. I find it comical that no one I personally know enjoys this movie, which only elevates it further for me. I watch it every October at least twice...by myself.
