Doing more research the top-of-the-line Panny 3D set, the VT is still at $5000 CDN here, so it would definitely not be worth my while yet to sell off my Elite. Think I will wait another year at least, see where this 3D thing goes too
Yes! Keep the Pioneer awhile longer, to get your money's worth out of it. You've invested a lot of money, purchasing the Pioneer, and it would be a shame to get rid of it already. especially when they've been discontinued.

Yeah, it was kind of a thank you for being one of my first customers when I started up my insurance business, present...

and he's also mentioned getting rid of his 50" Pioneer eventually, I've told him that I would pay him something for it but he told me that if he didn't give it to me, probably woulda just give it to someone else... he's a pretty generous guy...

Got one actually! Used the Disney WOW disc and it does help. I'm just wondering how MUCH better a professional calibration will actually do to the PQ. It looks great now, how much better can it get exactly?
That's another reason I don't really want to pay for the calibration - because if it only helps a tiny bit, is it worth it?

Sell it, keep it, give it away, if you want the VT get it. If you can afford a 141 you can afford a VT too.
Actually no, the money was given to me as a gift which I put towards this Monitor. I am not a fancy rich person, so I could only afford the Elite because I had the money given to me for it. But thanks for your opinion.

If you're satisfied the way it look to you, then don't bother having it calibrated. Why spend money, when don't necessarily have to? I haven't had my HDTV calibrated either, and it looks good. My Panasonic has the THX picture mode, and I just utilize that feature. The blu-rays look spectacular on it!

I wish some one would have given me the money for a pioneer. That was very nice of them.

couple of reason why you should not sell your set, and get it calibrated instead

As a fellow KURO owner who _might_ not be tweaking every single bit out of his TV, I must concur with all the others who say not to sell it.

#1 - Would you really be able to get what it's worth ? The number of people who truly appreciate this kind of stuff is rapidly diminishing (aka Walmart syndrome).
# 2 - So what if you're not extracting every bit out of the TV ? If you bought a high-end Panny to replace it, would you even get everything out of that TV either ? Chances are, no. Keep the KURO.
#3 - If you spend on anything, use the money to buy a warranty in order to further the life of your KURO.

Well, I would have to see a side-by-side comparison of the two to notice any difference in them.

I'd keep the Pio for sure. I'd only sell it to get a nice projector and a 100"+ screen if you have the room! otherwise - keep the elite.

I would have recommended the same thing.
I worked hard to buy this HDTV, and I am super happy with it. Use it 99% to watch BDs on it.
I have used two calibration discs (Spears & Munsil HD Benchamark, and WOW, as well as the THX calibration tools found on the T2 disc!

If the results are satisfactory, then why would you want a professional calibration? I don't believe it would make a monumental difference.

My advice: KEEP IT! unless you just watch SD TV material on it.
