Very well said, and I couldn't agree with you more on this, but at least Castle is still going.

If you just go straight to the techno-babble and wormhole discussions...you are done.

The thing I dont get with all that CSI stuff is that....its the same damned show every week. They find a toenail stuck in a tree trunk and within 46 minutes they figure out that some guy named "Bob" did it. Its probably cool sometimes but..... these shows have no end in sight. Like you said though - if thats what viewers want then so be it.

It just angters me that shows like Firefly and V get nuked but the same old Police/Hospital stuff has no end.
Nothing much to undestand about it, people love crime shows Don't get me wrong I am with you since even as a kid nothing was more boring to me then watching a cop show. There is no doubt that it's a style that is extremely popular, it's been so since the early days of TV. As for V well it was doom from the start. It should never have been on a network like ABC, it might have lasted a bit longer on scifi but it would not have had the same budget, maybe???? Scifi shows will always receive the axe very quickly from networks.

Oh yeah - you are correct. Its the right formula and people like it. Cant argue with that.

As for Sci-Fi, its too bad. There is probably some great content out there that we'll never hear about due to networks not wanting to get burned. The Sci Fi channle tries but as you mentioned, the budget gets in the way and too many of their shows are cheesey or under-developed.

Guess the SciFi & fantasy creators will have to write a novel first, right? Worked great for Rowling and Tolken.....

So I assume this did not get a Best Buy SteelBook treatment like Season 1? Bummer.

Bummer as well that it got canceled.

Saw this today @ HMV for C$39.99 and had to pass. Too steep.

I'm still pissed that Sarah Connor Chronicles got axed after that kick-ass cliff-hanger at the end of Season 2. I mean, I could just imagine the possibilities of the show with Sarah in modern times and John in future times. Would have really strained the budget though always doing some future war environments.

No kidding, this ended with one hell of a cliff hanger, they really should finish this series, it really starting picking up in Season 2.

I love the old V and the new one. ABC sucks ass anyway so it's no surprise they cancelled it. Hopefully one of the other channels (CW, SyFy, etc.) will pick it up eventually. There are alot of fans trying to get them to.

Now that would be nice, I would also like to see Heroes get picked up, but it seems that isn't going to happen either.

Not sure what you mean by this.

The story might have never resolved because it was canceled... but why not release all the episodes that they made for consumers/fans to buy?

To make your analogy work... it would be like saying why release a movie on Blu-ray unless there is going to be a sequel movie made and also released some day...

So... no movie should be released unless it gets a sequel? That's sort of what you are saying.

To compare "half a movie" to a TV series that was canceled is not the same thing.

I wish they had been able to create a solution and resolve everything before the show was canceled... but it did run to the end of its planned season 2... so there's no reason not to release the season for home viewers unless they don't think it will sell.

He's just venting. I'm sure he's not advocating burying the shows.

But I must admit I share his frustration. With all the cancelled shows, I've become wary of investing time in them until I know they'll come to some sort of closure. (I think I can safely start to see Fringe only now.)

It's one thing being cut off when you're following a show "for free" on TV, it's quite another if you've been shelling out for them on BD and then *Whammo*, the last episode ends on a cliffhanger and you're left hanging. I went into Sarah Connor on BD, knowing there would be no resolution, but if you go in blind, I would certainly feel ripped off when there's money involved.

Also, Knowing V was never finished (I followed it on initial broadcast), I will never bother obtaining it on BD (or anything else, for that matter.) If it had run it's course, I would have added the series to my collection eventually. As it is, it's a dead duck.

One series I was heartbroken they didn't finish was Surface. Not a very good show dramatically, but the Sci-Fi elements were just so enthralling.

It did find an audience. Then it lost it. "V" had a huge premiere. There was a huge audience out there for a reboot of the 80s series. As much as some may have liked it, many obviously didn't. IMO, it was not well executed at all. The writing was almost always horrible, which led to performances that bordered on embarrassing. The only one who came off well was Baccarin since she was lucky enough to have less dialogue. If only the other actors would've been so lucky.

The second season was definitely better than the first, but it still wasn't great. I recall one really good episode out of the bunch that gave a hint what the show could've been (I think that was the one written by Rockne S O'Bannon, the creator of Farscape). But, it just doesn't seem like it had a strong creative force behind it. Someone in this thread put "Firefly" and "V" in the same sentence.... something "V" just does not deserve.

She's the wife of one of the leads. She has a major part.

And if anyone is...ummm... interested in Baccarin, you'll want to check out Homeland.
