Default Fat PS3 80gig life expectancy?

does anyone have any idea what the life expectancy is on a FAT ps3 80 gig?
I bought this one 3 years ago this December and had to send it in to get the Video card replaced on it after 5 months, they repaired it and sent it back to me and i haven't had a single issue with it until today when I got home. I turned on my TV and the PS3 and it never picked up the HDMI signal. I did the hard reset on it and hooked the component cables up to it it came right up did another reset and it showed it detected the HDMI cable and i set it to run HDMI and changed to the HDMI input and it never came up. So I unplugged that HDMI end from the PS3 and plugged it into my stand alone Blu Ray player and it picked it right up.

So my question is does anyone know what the life expectancy is on the Fat PS3? I don't even use it everyday, it may still be under the Sony Warranty but I bought this from Game Crazy with the 3 year warranty but they closed so i don't think there is anyway to get them to replace it. I am trying to avoid buying another PS3. it still works with component cable but that just bugs me knowing its not HDMI.
