Exclamation The Nutcracker (2010) Blu-ray 3D [Region Locked]

The Nutcracker in 3D...Will it get a 3d Bluray release in the US?

I see the 2D release is hitting stores on Tuesday has anyone heard any word on a US release in 3d?

And if not can anyone check and see if either of these international releases will play in Region A:

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-N...Blu-ray/28214/

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-N...Blu-ray/30148/

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-N...Blu-ray/30963/

Thanks,
TJ

Best Buy.com has an empty placeholder for a 3D, but no updated information--
Which lets us hope for an "exclusive", but given the movie's tar-and-feather reception in the US, it's a pretty vain hope.

(3DBlu-rayRental.com seems to know of no version, either.)

Yah, I saw that on Best Buy as well but the Retail Price of $26.99 is the same as the 2D's listed retail price so I am thinking it is an error, but it would be nice if it is.

I'm waiting for the UK 3D edition to come in the mail and despite the fact I'm Region B, I'll let you know if it has the ABC logo on it etc

Seriously guys don't bother with this one or cancel it if youve ordered it. I bought it and watched it yesterday and turned it off. It is the worst conversion I have ever seen and the movie is shockingly bad. I would put it up there with Green Hornet as the worst I've seen. The picture quality is really bad as well on top of the terrible conversion. My eyes actually hurt looking at it it was so bad!

The UK release is locked to Region B - I tested it in a Region A PS3. The conversion is poorly done and I added a few comments in this thread: https://forum.blu-ray.com/3d-blu-ray...-releases.html

And while the 3-D version may never actually SEE the light of disk in the US, what will probably come as a complete shock is that it is currently playing in 3-D VOD on Vudu.com (for PS3 and similarly enabled Smart-3DTV's):
http://www.vudu.com/movies/#!content...-Nutcracker-3D
(And even available for Rental, which is becoming increasingly unusual for Sony and Disney titles on Vudu...)

Yes, the 3-D does look awful, and still little more than a "Never see it on disk" curiosity, but, um...okay, that was unexpected.

Grooves-Inc says that the German version is region-free. But is that reliable, especially since farther down the page it also says "Regioncode B"? Amazon names the studio as Capelight Pictures.

Just in case anyone was thinking of getting this title in 3d. It is barely a better 3d conversion then Clash of the Titans and the film I, and most found to be garbage. I would recommend checking it out in 2d before importing or similar.

Yes, like the film itself, the conversion is a real mess but I'd still rather watch it that way than in 2D.

I'd recommend watching it in 2d if one decides to watch this. The 3d really is just all around terribly done and only takes away imho.

Hi 13,

Yes, if I was interested in a title, I'd rather watch poor quality 3D than flat.

I even like watching my bluray discs simulated, however, because they're not mastered in 3D, often the color and detail becomes a bit subdued and I am not going to change user settings to improve them. Most of the time it doesn't bother me, but with epics like Lawrence of Arabia, etc the pristine restoration is diminished beyond acceptance..

This isn't simply mild 3d, this is unique in the "there are enough errors it starts to hurt your eyes" level of bad 3d. The closest we have gotten to this level of terrible is Clash of The Titans, but that film in hindsight whilst still terrible overall, actually has some shoots that look okayish.

This isn't 3d as anyone should ever watch it.

This boggles my mind. I'm a huge 3D fan, and always have been, but I have countless TV shows and movies on various formats. There's no way I would want to watch them all in fake, TV-converted 3D. That's not how films are meant to be seen. It totally ruins the look of the film. And when I say fake, I don't mean the high-quality converted 3D we see these days, that are carefully worked on frame-by-frame. Those are not what I consider fake. What the TV does on-the-fly is fake, and this film also qualifies. It's the single worst 3D presentation I've ever seen. I watched no more than 10 minutes of it because it was so severely distorted. This isn't weak 3D. It doesn't even qualify as 3D. Weak 3D is weak. This isn't weak- it's broken.

Bad 3D like this does not do the format any favors. I can't speak for the film itself as I haven't seen it, but the short amount of 3D I have seen is all I need to know about the 3D version.

The 3D in this is the very worst 3D I have ever seen in my life, hands down. Not all 3D is worth watching. This is the kind of 3D early on in conversions that gave it a very bad reputation. Thankfully they have made enormous strides in the quality of 3D conversions over the years. This one should be avoided in 3D at all costs. The film is awful, too. I didn't finish it. And I rarely give up on a film.

I watched this in 3D via Vudu last Christmas and the 3D didn't look too bad or at least nothing out of the ordinary. Where did you see the 3D version?

As for the film itself, I had no clue what the hell I was watching. A total trainwreck of a movie on every level imaginable. I have to give credit to John Turturro. He put his heart an soul into that role and gave it his all.
