That's what I was wondering, too. I'd guess he might be referring to the actual films.

I saw My Bloody Valentine at the theater and thought the 3D was really good. It also actually made me flinch a few times, which had never happened before or since. The experience of watching it in a theater with my friend was great, but the movie admittedly was not, though I thought it had some good gore and kills, along with the previously mentioned fun 3D effects. Overall, it was pretty dull, though.

I have the regular Blu-ray of it, not the 3D Blu-ray. I thought the old-school 3D with the red and blue glasses looked pretty darn good for what it was. I would have thought the 3D would have translated really well on an actual 3D Blu-ray, but it's always so expensive. I'd be willing to pay $15-20 for it because it's a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine, but I would not recommend a blind buy unless it was dirt cheap.

MBV looks fantastic and has some great 3D effects, but is a very average film. Saw is terrible I thought.

I for one did not notice any visual errors when viewing My Bloody Valentine on 3D Blu. In fact, it was the first stereoscopic 3D movie I had ever seen in a Theater. Sure, it has a cut-and-paste plot, but I loved it. No ghosting on my passive set, and great 3D pop-outs.

I'd say they were more goofy than bad myself. The 3D was pretty good on both although MBV as a whole was clearly designed for 3D and there's only really two stand out scenes in 3D in Saw 3D (the table saw scene in the beginning when the saw is thrust toward the camera and the horsepower trap when the man in the seat is reaching throgh the shattered windshield toward the lever (shown in the trailer).) For the most part though the Kevin Greutert was going after atmospheric 3D while the director of MBV3D was more interested in the gimmicky kind of 3D. To me both films are fairly tongue and cheek although MBV3D is more frustrating since the characters are so one-note.

Of the other 3D horror films I've seen:
Fright Night 3D is good but hampered by the darkness of some of the scenes, still the 3D gets good especially toward the end
Final Destination 5 is maybe the best of the bunch, the opening credits alone are worth the price of the movie
Underworld Awakening is definitely one of the better genre films in 3D though its less horror than scifi action, was very impressed by the 3D
The Final Destination is good by 3D b-movie standards, though doesn't hold a candle to 5
Resident Evil Afterlife surprisingly left less of an impression on me than the others, aside from a few standout scenes I had the tendency to forget it was in 3D sometimes

I enjoyed MBV even if it had some story issues but thought the 3d was good and i had very little ghosting etc(maybe 3 times i seen ghosting but was really looking for it).

I do agree with mpstjohn. The 3D in Final Destination 5 was really good. I rewatched that one with a friend this weekend. She had only seen Thor in 3D on my screen and was convinced that it didn't really work (though she never told me that!). Anyway, we put FD5 on and within 5 minutes, she was saying, "Oh, wow! So this is how the 3D is supposed to look!"

Yeah that's why I have been having a hard time pulling the trigger. I saw these a few months ago and just wrote them off.

I did finally go ahead and grab them. It was my birthday!

Let us know your impressions. I had seen them on Amazon as well but decided not to pick them up.

With SAW i am mostly talking about the movie it is awful. But there is 2 or 3 scenes in it with major ghosting the start of the scene where the lady walks towards the session Sean Patrick is having. And then the scene where he is walking down some stares in a basement is also heavily ghosting. These come to mind

And MBV is a great movie but the movie is filled with ghosting. And i am not the only one that says that. You just have to see the review on this site and its user reviews

Ghosting and crosstalk are an issue with the equipment one has, not the disc.

Thanks for the info on MBV and Saw 3D. Sounds like when MBV 3D is in the 20.00$ range, I'm going to give it a go. I heard it's about a coal miner seeking revenge, and is a remake of the original. It was first released for almost 35.99 or so on Blu 3D, no way I'd pay that for a day one release when they should offer a bargain on the first week.

Yeah, Underworld Awakening's 3D was much better than I thought it might be. Great action too.

Priest 3D has some really good pop on the depth for a post 2D to 3D film.

Lots of vampire 3D movies lately... Now we just need a really good Blade 3D...

i agree Priest looks better in 3D then some say. It is a good 3D title

But the best is Final Destination 4 and 5. The 3D for these 2 is amazing

I'll have to consider them as well if the 3D's that good. I liked Final Destination 1, but lost interest after seeing part 2. Thanks.

I'd like to see Creature from the Black Lagoon in Stereo 3D.
Jaws 3D might be interesting.

FWIW, I thought Final Destination 5 was one of the best entries in the series.

3D is something a lot more horror movies should be considering if their intent is to scare or shock the audience, for obvious reasons, but also to bring the viewer "into" that haunted house as though they were there.

Default 3d horror

I love me some 3D horror. Thought it would be good to have a thread for current and new releases. Of the titles currently available the following come to mind:

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter (action horror)
Final Destination 4 (I don't own this, the UK never got a real 3D release)
Final Destination 5
Frankenweenie (tongue in cheek horror)
Night of the Living Dead: Reanimation
Paranorman (again, tongue in cheek horror)
Saw: The Final Chapter
Silent Hill: Revelation
Texas Chainsaw
Bait
The Hole (More aimed at youths but still a light horror)
My Bloody Valentine
Piranha
Piranha 3DD
Underworld Awakening
Fright Night
Prometheus
The Creature From the Black Lagoon

Which have I forgotten? What upcoming releases have we got to look forward to? I think horror is a great genre for 3D and would love to see more 3D horror movies
