Oh man! Friggin awesome! How about putting classic 3d out on 3d bluray? House of wax, bwana devil, Black lagoon, etc. that would be incredible. I recall in the early 80's wpix in ny showed black lagoon in 3d and it was an EVENT. 3d on free tv was unheard of. Btw I would pay a premium price for a universal monsters box set. Took my kids to universal Florida this year and it's sad to see what's become of my beloved monsters. They were starring in a cheesy musical review. Ugh. C'mon universal, restore these icons to their glory on blu!

Even a "fake" 3-D conversion like Friday the 13th part 3 would at least be fun for the novelty of it.
That was my concern when I read this article too. And I think that would go for Jaws 3D too.
Lugosi and Karloff on blu???? Bring it on baby!!!!

I would love to see this happen. But there's are part of me that already fears how badly they will screw it up. This is Universal after all.

Has Universal released any really, really good-looking black and white stuff?

This is great news. I will probably end up buying two copies. One for me and one for my best friend.

And it will include the legendary, more explicit Japanese theatrical cut of the film. Here's a link. http://www.hammerfilms.co...ws/arti...la-resurrected

I'm most definitely in for this one.

It's doubtful, but I hope that we eventually get ALL of the films that came out on the Legacy DVD sets.

And complaining about the price when it's announced.

Since it's likely that this will be a boxset, who knows.

I cannot wait for this. The classic monsters deserve the high def treatment, they made Universal legendary.

Its about time I will be picking up this set day 1if it indeed does get released. Now let the complaining in this thread begin about how they are not getting individual releases and how universal sucks and will probably screw these up

In the late 90s or early 00s, Universal released a DVD box set of the "8 Original Classic Monsters." It included: Dracula, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, The Mummy, The Wolf Man, The Invisible Man, Phantom of the Opera, and Creature from the Black Lagoon. I imagine the Blu-ray box will be the same titles, and I'm certainly okay with that!

"the studio's concern was that - believe it or not - sales of those titles haven't been very good on DVD over the years. "

Well, this probably had much to do with saturating the market with a "new" re-release of these films every couple of years. They got me with the original release of Dracula, Frankenstein, and Bride of Frankenstein...then again with the legacy sets. I passed on the 75th anniversary editions.

While I am happy they are going to release these, I would wager they will probably follow the same release format of as they did with DVDs, and we will see expanded releases later on.
