They're called sell sheets and they're put out by, that's right, the studio.

In an early announcement to retailers, Universal has revealed 'Harvey' will be released on Blu-ray on March 6.

This is the problem with retailers. They post the pre sell sheet as the actual release date before seeing the official Press Release. Until the Studio Press Release is announced, I don't believe these release dates.

You don't have to ask when the new release date is, just wait until the Studio Press Release comes out and then you know.

I'm not. HonestJohn was pointing out an issue regarding the street date posted on another site and I just posted my issue with retailers posting presell-sheets as "written-in-stone" release dates.

Ini regards to street dates, it's never very prudent to pre-order an item until the studio releasing that releases a press statement regarding its release. More times than not, the release is either canceled or changed.

I preordered back in January, and today I received an e-mail from Amazon stating that they've been unable to get it, and will keep trying. I bet they'll eventually just cancel the order.

A bit of a let down I must say. Really enjoy this movie and Stewart is so great in it. Will keep my DVD a while longer

Wal-Mart still lists the release as 3/6/12. So it's not like it's JUST Amazon that took that release information and ran with it.

Is it even definitive that it's NOT happening on 3/6? I don't really care so long as the release does actually happen eventually.

I'm hoping to be able to walk right into a Target and grab a few of these Universal 100 releases, the Deer Hunter and Harvey especially. Up until now the Target nearest me has stocked every single U100 release both on DVD and blu (they actually have a special display just for Universal 100th anniversary). I expect Deer Hunter to definitely be stocked, Harvey will be a bit of a test to see if they will go all the way with the Universal 100's. Of course that depends on if it makes the 3/6/12 street date, or if it's being pushed back for some reason.

On a related note, it seems to me like the Universal 100 releases had some pretty good sales at the Targets in this area. At least they are running out of what they originally stocked. So that seems to clear the way for more new releases.

I ordered through PlanetAxel weeks ago, and it has yet to ship, however other Universal 100 releases on March 6th have shipped.

Bad news, I just received an email from Universal about the released and here's what it said:
