TBA dangerously treaded the confusion between "Alice = Oz" and "Oz = Wicked: the Musical", so "The true story of Maleficent"?....YOU tell me where this's headed

If I knew any lyrics from Wicked, I'd be humming them ironically right about now, but......I don't. Someone else will have to cynically fill in.

I'm definitely excited to see the trailer. Jolie certainly looked the part in the promo shot released a while back. I hope it's dark, but I doubt it.

I am very excited to see the trailer soon as well. I agree, Angelina Jolie definitely does look the part in the promo shot. So far from what I've read front he trailer description, Maleficent is going to be very dark.

No, I think the question was meant as more of a facetious "Uh, big-biudget live-action studio-made Disney is NOT YOUR FRIEND, Sean... "
You'll probably be living down Lone Ranger jokes for the next three years on this board, and, sadly, not even be aware of it. If "Wow, Thor 2!" posts like these are any early indication.

Do you think this will be on Planes this weekend, being a Disney movie? or is this too dark, or Planes too boy-oriented?

Exclamation Maleficent's real movie trailer description

Here's Maleficent's real trailer description and not the one I posted before that turned out to be fake. There's a rumor going around on the internet, that this new trailer will be released with Thor: The Dark World on November 8th.

From insidemovies.ew.com
http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/08/1...ey-villainess/

Maleficent's real movie trailer description:

'It begins with good fairies Flora, Fauna and Merryweather, flitting through the castle on their way to bestow gifts on the newborn Princess Aurora while a sinister looking king played by Sharlto Copely (District 9) glowers on.

While they bless her with spells wishing for a happy life, a dark wind blows through the castle, swaying iron chandeliers and sending the inhabitants cowering. A shadow rises, with two familiar curled horns.

Jolie’s black-clad Maleficent, who had a much earlier, uglier encounter with the king, has arrived before the court.

“Well, well …” she says, and smiles. “I must say I really felt quite distressed at not receiving an invitation.”

“You’re not welcome here,” the king snarls.

Maleficent sighs, looking back at the frightened court denizens. “What an awkward situation!” she says, as her crow lands on the baby’s bassinet.

“Listen well, all of you,” she says, in a voice eerily reminiscent of Eleanor Audley, who voiced the animated character. “The princess shall indeed grow in grace and beauty. But before the sun sets on her 16th birthday, she will prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel — and fall into a sleeplike death … woken only by true love’s kiss.”

She cackles as the footage fades to the title: MALEFICENT.

At first my reaction to this movie was:

Idiots! IMBECILES! etc.

Then it became:

This is the first time in my life where I'm absolutely, 100% convinced a movie that hasn't come out yet is going to suck. Also, the first time I'm tempted to say, "CHILDHOOD RUINED", etc.

I'm calling b.s. on the trailer description...that's just a riff on the confrontation in the original 1959 film, right down to the dialog. Sounds like a fan wrote it.

Maleficent didn't want to put Aurora to sleep, her plan was far more sadistic. She wanted everyone to bond with Aurora, bond with her for 16 years, and then, just at the start of her life as a future adult, she'd be doomed to prick her finger on a needle and die.

What's this change with Maleficent leaving Aurora an out with True Love's Kiss? "Maleficent's the lead, we can't make her too evil"?

Reminds me of the Kids in the Hall skit about Skoora the Gentle Shark.

Actually, That IS the real trailer description. The one I had posted before turned out to be BS. This is the description of the real trailer unlike the fake one that I found and posted before -> http://insidemovies.ew.com/2013/08/1...ey-villainess/ .

I don't want them to turn Maleficent into Darth Vader: she was an evil fairy queen from the beginning. She doesn't need to be given a retconned origin as some noble figure of fallen grace. Some characters are simply evil through and through and that's their function in the story.

Besides, it was Merryweather who gave Aurora an out by reducing the effect of Maleficent's spell from death to eternal sleep. Revisionist whitewashing at its finest.

Just like with Oz the Great and Powerful, I believe Disney is only doing this project because they're convinced they can strike gold a second time after Alice in Wonderland made a billion dollars.

So count me out on this one.

Yep. I'm not really a fan of all these live-action "remakes" of the Disney classic stories. Sure they could turn out great, but I'm still highly skeptical. I'm hoping the Beauty and the Beast version never sees the light of day.
