In the fullscreen version you see a clear shot of her boobs; in the widescreen version, you get a partial shot.

Apparently the US-version is definitely Region A Locked, but is the Canadian version also definitely locked then?
Because on its release-page here, it doesn't specifically show that it's locked, but rather that it's Region A, with B and C untested.
Would anyone know more about this?

I'd really like to have this movie, but as I live in The Netherlands and my player is a PS3, thus Region B, I'm afraid I couldn't play it back.

Why didn't it just get a UK-release thrown in anyway? A bunch more of this type of comedies did.
And if not released in multiple countries or more than the US and Canada, why not make it Region Free so more people would buy it?
Kind of silly and especially annoying...

But seriously, Sony license these titles to Image, presumably because they don't want to release them themselves, or don't see a vast profit in doing so.

At least they're not just sitting on them.

Myeah, OK. But usually I don't complain about Region Locked titles, because most are available at least in the UK as well.
Besides that, I rarely run into anything Region Locked, except for maybe Criterion. But that's just the way it is with them, you instantly know.
It's JUST the thing that, why are so many titles widely available and this one title, sure among a couple of others, not?
I guess, like you said, they just limited Image to do so, but then still I don't get why they don't allow just a UK-release as well.
It would probably sell... It's not like there wasn't a DVD-release for it anywhere else. :P

Oh well, maybe the Canadian release? Otherwise it might just appear around here later... Too bad in that case...

It's interesting that Joan was actually nude, during the post shower scene. You'd have thought that if they were planning on 1.85:1 from the start, that she'd be covered somehow during the filming?

At about 30 minutes into the film, you DO get to see her boobs in her black lace blouse (see-thru), for just as long as the post-shower scene that got cropped in the widescreen version. So there's that....

It looks great from start to finish.
Also, it was truly funny. Love me some Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor.

Highly recommended. Even the sound was pretty good for an 80s comedy.

She's probably just that confident and comfortable. It was actually surprising to me that this scene was not in the wide frame since I'd only seen the movie on vhs as a kid. Even though it doesn't matter one bit with the plot it's probably the most memorable moment in the whole movie.

Such a great transfer. I wish all their movies looked like this.
Stir Crazy is super funny, but it doesn't look nearly as good as this one.
Let's not even talk about Silver Streak, which looks quite poor on BD.
Does anyone know what kind of remaster this got?
Could even be 4k.
