I am liking what Refn and Duncan Jones are doing right now.

Just one though, Tarantino.

It would have to be Billy Wilder.

Double Indemnity, The Apartment, The Fortune Cookie, Stalag 17, Sabrina, Sunset Boulevard, Some Like It Hot...the guy definitely had range.

Scorsese

A lot of classic films and love his recent output, too, including documentaries on The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan and George Harrison, plus Boardwalk Empire, and his latest masterpiece, Hugo 3D!

Apatow, Scorsese, Woody, Fincher, and Wes Anderson. If I had to just pick 1, it'd be Fincher. Most definitely.

I'd have two different answers, as my favorite director is Tarantino, but if I could only watch one director's movies for the rest of my life it'd be Sidney Lumet. That guy from his first film, til his last was dead on.

Im a big fan of Scorsese and Nolan has never had a bad movie yet. But.....
I got to go with James Cameron. The terminator, the greatest movie of all time T2. True Lies, Titanic. Im just hoping one day Arnold can reunite with Cameron for one more masterpiece.

I'm along with you in regard to his first 4 full features (Terminator, Aliens, Abyss, T2). Everything after has been varying degrees of decent to disappointing.

David Fincher is my favorite at the moment. Dragon Tattoo put a seal on that.

But my other 2 favorites would be:

Richard Kelly (Donnie Darko, Southland Tales, The Box)
M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, The Village...enough said)

Overall I just really like director's who are very stylistic, but films are also very unique and different.

My all time favorite is Akira Kurosawa.

But if I have to pick one body of work to watch, then I got to choose Steven Spielberg because of the variety, quality, and amount of movies overall. My top movies are done by other directors(I don't think any of my top 10 movies are Spielberg movies) but I don't think no one can beat Spielberg in terms of variety and entertainment value overall right now. Probably in 20 more years, David Fincher, Christopher Nolan and few others will be better when they do more variety of movies, but as of right now, I think Spielberg beats everybody in overall body of works.

He did practically every genre, and he did it well.

Drama, War - Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Munich, Empire of the Sun
Drama - Color Purple, Amistad
Drama, Comedy - Terminal, Catch Me If You Can
Comedy - 1941
Sci-fi - E.T., Close Encounter, Minority Report, A.I., War of the World
Fantasy - Hook, Always
Horror, creature - Jaws
Creature, action - Jurassic Park
Action, Adventure - Indiana Jones
Animation - Adventures of Tintin
