Maybe or at least watching it in group. I mean it really does not matter if everyone is too busy laughing that you can't hear the script cause there is no script to follow Watching these type of movie in a gang is a lot of fun usually.

I second that. If Ed Wood has a magnum opus it is Glen or Glenda. I've seen lots of bad movies and Plan 9 and GoG are in a select group with the likes of Troll 2, that I don't really consider bad. They definitely entertain more than Manos: The Hands of Fate or The Robot vs. the Aztec Mummy. Now I don't believe Wood was a careful artist who calculated every part of his movies to fit within an artistic vision as I've heard others state, but I do find there is an aesthetic in his movies that appeals to me. Something makes them rise above the level of trash to poke fun at.

Hope it's region free.

Also hope that the "Plan 9 Companion" doc is included!

Review is up. Seems that the disc is pretty good. I personally had my doubts considering the transfers we had on the past formats. Glad I was wrong.

When I saw the first screenshot I was worried because it was colorized and I was ready to cancel my order, but it also has the black and white, thank goodness.

Plan 9 From Outer Space Blu-ray
Quality is good, and once again the aspect ratio is completely wrong. How hard is it to make this 1.85 as it should be. That's how it was shown, and it's obvious in every single shot of the film, no matter how inept, that it's the wrong ratio. Disgusting.

This is one rare case where the aspect ratio is not a deal breaker for me. I only remember seeing this film in 1.33:1 so it does not really matter to me. It would be nice to see it in 1.85.1 but I have grown used to seeing the film in 1.33:1 so it is fine with me.

It would be helpful to know how the picture quality compares to the previous Legend DVD. That was said to be the "most extensive restoration ever" for the title. So has the claimed restoration for this Blu-ray mean that it's had further restoration? I very much doubt it. Sadly the Blu-ray doesn't even seem to have all the extras which were on the DVD.

i agree fully on this, why give us a restored 1:33 whilst we want the original 1:85 restored,a missed opportunity and i guess i'll gonna have to wait a long time untill "some" company picks this up and does it justice.....
also they left out the docu wich lasts over 2 hours and wich is a real gem, most of us have it from the dvd release but those getting this movie on blu and never seen it on dvd with the docu...
now most people would say"why nitpick on this release,we should be glad it even got out no blu"....
well,i'm watching my movies on a 90" 16/9 screen and the difference between a 1:33 and 1:85 is like day and night...

Not so much "left out" as "don't have the rights to".

I was looking forward to adding this to my collection but opening the film up to 1:33 is unacceptable to me so much to my chagrin, I will not be picking this one up.

The film was shot in 1.33, but intended for 1.85. Since most 1.85 films are released on BR as 16:9, it seems to me that if you "zoom" the image, you'll see within a few pixels what was intended for 1.85, providing that the film was shot with a common centerline. If however, it were shot with a common topline, then heads will get cut off if you zoom.

Ed Wood wasn't the greatest filmmaker, which is part of his charm. I really doubt that he took the 1.85 crop into much consideration as he shot.

Good comment. And it means that in this 1:33 format you lose NOTHING of what was filmed. And if it was 1:85 you would lose parts of top and bottom..
We should think about that. And Ed Wood, knowing EXACTLY what he wanted as framing ?!!? Like Zoet MB, I think not..

i prefer to have everything on screen including the boom mic and what we should not see..it is part of the appeal.. It is not Citizen Kane we're talking about. NO...it's a lot better.. it's PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE !!
