Well that's easy, the less money they spend on bringing it back, the more they get in revenue. Lucas know Episode 1 isn't liked, so he's guaranteed to make money as long as he doesn't put all that much into it.

Can't wait to see it this weekend. I have very fond memories of seeing Phantom Menace at midnight 13 years ago and I think they'll all come flooding back when I see it again. The movie's not perfect, but it's still a lot of fun and it's Star Wars...on the big screen...in 3-D. Good enough for me.

I'm curious as well. Quite a few films opening this weekend, but nothing lauded by the critics. I don't know if the Rock's presence is enough to sell moviegoers on Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. The Vow might garner some interest (with Valentine's Day just around the corner).

Looking forward to the numbers late Sunday / Monday morning.

Being a Star Wars Fan forever, I did not hate this movie nor did I think it was one of Cinemas finest moments. I am now in the infant levels of my own production company and although I might not normally have given up the jingle for this reduex, I love the technical side of it, and like someone posted before, it's Star Wars, its the big screen and its 3D... hell, it might just be kinda fun!

Just picture Lucas giggling while rolling around naked in a pile of money.

"I just fooled them into paying to see TPM again! Mwwahhhahaha!"

This has long been a favorite movie of mine; I also happen to remember how it got a positively glowing review from Janet Maslin in The New York Times when it first came out.

The only thing I didn't like at the time was the puppet Yoda - I never felt it really matched what the OT Yoda looked like, even allowing he was about 30 years younger. So I'm glad that Lucas has finally been able to replace Ep I Yoda with a CG version. It can only make what was already one of my favorite Star Wars movies even better.

Lookin' forward to watching it in 3-D

Just got back from seeing it. I thought it was a very good conversion, though to be honest, it wasn't always the scenes you would have expected to that had the wow factor. Best stuff for me was the Coruscant cityscape scenes. And as for the person who claims most of it isn't even in 3D, they are either blind, or just talking out of their @$$.

For me, it would be having people constantly post in the Living Daylights BD thread that Timothy Dalton is a terrible 007. I get that a lot of people don't like him as a Bond, I do and if people constantly posted that and contributed nothing else to the discussion it would get tiresome over time.

That being said, enjoy Phantom Menace!
Thank you. I respect you for saying that.

Here is a video of John Knoll talking about the goal they had for the conversion.

They didn't want the coming at ya moments, just added depth....

I am going to see it Monday at the latest.

I was actually planning on seeing it tonight, but I had my Mvie Night of TESB, so I watched that instead.

If there is an opportunity, I will catch it on the weekend.

I am curious.

I really don't care to see 'The Phantom Menace' in theaters again, but if the 3D is really well done, I might spring just to check it out myself.

Did YOU actually see TPM in the theater in 3-D, or did you jsut vote BAD, because you are a hater?

I wonder how long it will take before they announce Episode 2 (3d)??

So what if some of you hate Episode 1..Just go see it so we can see the rest of the Episodes in (3d)..

I believe it has been announced that they will be coming out once a year, at around the same time of the year.

Personally, I think Ep. 1 is the second worst in the series (right after Ep. 2). But I still love Star Wars and, though I don't care much for 3D, I will not pass up an opportunity to see Star Wars on the big screen one more time. Of course, IV and V are the ones I'm looking forward to the most.

I voted I don't care for 3D, I add a bad because my friend said it wasn't worth it. It's hardly going to shifty the scales in either way since almost anyone is going to go watch isn't going to say the 3D was a waste of time if they gave there cash to it.

And, where did I say I hated TPM, it's not the best, but it's far from the worst as well.

Your friend is full of crap. There are already professional reviews online and not a single mention of only selected scenes being in 3D.

I'm pretty sure what he said was that not all scenes looked like they where fully rendered in 3D, like Clash of the Titans 3D, where attention was put onto each scene. I'm not really trusting the guy either, but I wouldn't understand why he would lie either, he didn't seem any cooler for it.

That was my vote as well. However if I had a kid I would take him or her see it so that just like his or her dad he or she could see Star Wars in theaters.
