Wow, this really doesn't seem worth it. I already have the movies, so with this ridiculous price I don't see myself getting it. Although it has beautiful packaging.

It will break down more or less like this:

Disc 1 - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone BD
Disc 2 - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone BD Supplements
Disc 3 - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone DVD Supplements
Disc 4 - Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone DVD

Disc 5 - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets BD
Disc 6 - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets BD Supplements
Disc 7 - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets DVD Supplements
Disc 8 - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets DVD

Disc 9 - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban BD
Disc 10 - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban BD Supplements
Disc 11 - Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban DVD Supplements
Disc 12 - Harry Potter and Prisoner of Azkaban DVD

Disc 13 - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire BD
Disc 14 - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire BD Supplements
Disc 15 - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire DVD Supplements
Disc 16 - Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire DVD

Disc 17 - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix BD
Disc 18 - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix BD Supplements
Disc 19 - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix DVD

Disc 20 - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince BD
Disc 21 - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince BD Supplements
Disc 22 - Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince DVD

Disc 23 - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 3D BD
Disc 24 - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 BD
Disc 25 - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows BD Supplements (which will be the Ultimate Edition version likely adding "Creating the World of Harry Potter: Part 7," the Best Buy exclusive "Behind the Magic" TV special, and trailers/promo materials)
Disc 26 - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 DVD

Disc 27 - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 3D BD
Disc 28 - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 BD
Disc 29 - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 BD Supplements (which will be the Ultimate Edition version likely adding "Creating the World of Harry Potter: Part 8," the Target-exclusive "When Harry Left Hogwarts" documentary, the "Behind the Magic" TV special that hasn't appeared in any North American release, and trailers/promo materials)
Disc 30 - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 DVD

Disc 31 - Harry Potter Wizards Collection Exclusive Bonus Disc

One thing I realized when typing up this list is that the Canadian description mentioned "5 hours of never-before-seen content." Well, are they including parts 7 and 8 of the "Creating the World of Harry Potter" documentary series? If so, then that would mean the bonus disc only has about 3 hours' worth of content, the only thing we know of which so far are bloopers and outtakes which Yates confirmed a few months ago. Hmmm...Unless I hear the movie discs themselves have gotten additional commentary and PiP tracks, I'll stick with my Ultimate Editions and try to hunt down a copy of the bonus disc.

Step away from the crack pipe.

This thing is not a value at all. It looks like some sort of super extravegant packaging, like the Humidor version of Scarface. But of course unlike scarface, I don't even know what the hell I'm looking at here. At least the humidor was a real humidor, that might be valuable in and of itself but probably still not nearly enough to justify the outrageous price other than for collectors.

It's actually a reasonable price. I did the math above.

It's just the whole lump sum at once that is making people gag.

If I bought HP1 UE: 35.00 then no one would say I got ripped off.
If I bought HP2 UE: 35.00 then no one would say I got ripped off.
If I bought HP3 UE: 35.00 then no one would say I got ripped off.
If I bought HP4 UE: 35.00 then no one would say I got ripped off.
If I bought HP5 UE: 35.00 then no one would say I got ripped off.
If I bought HP6 UE: 35.00 then no one would say I got ripped off.
If I bought HP7.1 UE: 35.00 then no one would say I got ripped off. (though not released)
If I bought HP7.2 UE: 35.00 then no one would say I got ripped off. (though not released)

But in total I would have paid 280.00 overall and over time. This edition is 359.99 or 79.99 for more footage and what seems to be a really nice display case.

What people here are gagging on then is 79.99 for 5 more hours of never before seen footage and a collectors wooden? box.

79.99 is the price at release as well, which will get lower over time too.

It's not a bad deal at all considering a lot of goofballs out there got scalped and bought that Future Shop Exclusive Box for hundreds of dollars. :x
The thing is, usually when people get a "set" of something, they want to pay less for each component of the set rather than actually pay MORE per movie to have them bundled together.

But maybe that's just me... now collectible packaging is one thing, and if someone is a massive Harry Potter fan then it's understandable they might want a fancy collectible item and pay more for it. There's really no way to breakdown the "value proposition" logically and make it sounds a good deal though. Most people that buy this will do it on emotion, collecting is not really logical, it's emotional.

I honestly never heard of a set with 31 discs, this is like a world record as far as I'm concerned, haha! I'll pass as I have the 1-6, but I really want the Canadian steelbooks for Deathly Hallows 1 and 2.

It's so hard to please people here. Here we are getting a new "Casablanca" release and it's going to cost a $50 for ONE movie, but people are ok with that because a lot of special features are included. Now, the same thing is happening to Harry Potter and people are whining about it!!!! Geez!! Make up your mind guys!!! This set is costing less than $50 per movie. So you guys are getting more bang for your buck than the Casablanca fans are...

LOL, and who said that is a "deal" at $50?

I think most people should have figured out by now these "Ultimate Collector's Editions" are big time cash-ins. At least Casablanca will sport a 4K remaster and is not the same disc being presented for the 4th time in new packaging but I'm still waiting for either the UCE to go on a big time discount, or for there to be a standalone release.

I'm a huge Harry Potter fan but there is no way I will be buying this set, I own all the Ultimate Editions, besides 7.1 and 7.2, it seems this is just a repackaging of the Ultimate Editions with collectible items and an extra disc or 2

The Ultimate Collector's Editions are released because that's what people want. People demand lots of special features and since this costs studios money, they are forced to jack up the price in order to give people what they want. Unfortunately, people like me who just want the movie have to suffer. I'm just in a small minority. That's why movies like "Citizen Kane" don't get a single-disc release. Nobody wants a barebones copy. 99% of people want lots and lots of extras and are willing to pay for it. So, studios do just that to make them happy. And that's what the WB is doing now with Harry Potter and now, people are whining about it.

I love HP, but I won't even be buying the ultimate editions. In the end, I just want the movies, not to be broke, lol. They are a cool idea, though, and I'm glad they've been released while the barebones BDs are still available.

Erm, does it really cost them that much to release special features? They're probably happy to jack up the prices. These are totally cash-ins. :P

Whatever floats ur boat, lol!! I've had no problems with the UEs, the documentaries are really interesting and in depth, nothing like what the standard bds give, plus they look really good on a shelf, lol!! :-p

That's funny, because I have a Citizen Kane digibook that I only paid $10.99 for.

Eventually most UCE's will also be available as single disc, either that or they get significantly discounted anyway...look at the Citzen Kane that's on the top right now. $28.99 is not so terrible, if I didn't already have the digibook version from Best Buy that probably would have been a good enough price to get me to buy the UCE.

Lets see...

I paid about 40$ U.S for the 8 film UK set, on Amazon UK. So for 5$ per movie I get the most important part - the movie...and I get commentaries and some tiny supplements like trailers probly.

Now this set wants me to shell out 8 times as much money for only 3 times as much content (As my current set has 10 discs.) It seems I don't have the 3D versions of Hallows 1&2 and so in time I will buy those individual releases on special if I love the movies (aint seen them yet).

Bottom line is. Even if I loved Harry Potter a lot, which I would argue if true, I would only pay 4 times as much money for 3 times as much content as the 8-film set. 4 times to give recognition of better packaging available here.

So I would pay 160$ for this, if at all. It is just a logical generous breakdown of my current purchase which already has the most important things in it for me - the MOVIES. If I love harry potter on BD and I fall in love with the characters more than when watched on DVD, I will get this set for between 100 and 200 bucks when it comes down to that. Provided it has the 3D versions of Hallows 1/2 and every cut of every movie.

Where on earth did you find the digibook for $10.99? Sell it to me for that same price and then order the UCE at Amazon for $28.99. That way, both of us are happy.

BTW- You do know that they're the EXACT same content, only the packaging is different and you don't get those collectible book thingies.

This is close I think, but I don't think these will come with DVD supplements. I think these will mirror the Ultimate editions nearly exactly in terms of the number of discs, and include a DVD for each movie and the 3D version:

So that should be as follows:

Disc 1 - Sorcerer's Stone BD
Disc 2 - Sorcerer's Stone Special Features Disc 1
Disc 3 - Sorcerer's Stone Special Features Disc 2 (featuring "Creating the World of Harry Potter Part 1: The Magic Begins")
Disc 4 - Sorcerer's Stone DVD

Disc 5 - Chamber of Secrets BD
Disc 6 - Chamber of Secrets Special Features Disc 1
Disc 7 - Chamber of Secrets Special Features Disc 2 (featuring "Creating the World of Harry Potter Part 2: Characters")
Disc 8 - Chamber of Secrets DVD

Disc 9 - Prisoner of Azkaban BD
Disc 10 - Prisoner of Azkaban Special Features Disc 1
Disc 11 - Prisoner of Azkaban Special Features Disc 2 (Featuring "Creating the World of Harry Potter Part 3: Magical Creatures")
Disc 12 - Prisoner of Azkaban DVD

Disc 13 - Goblet of Fire BD
Disc 14 - Goblet of Fire Special Features Disc 1
Disc 15 - Goblet of Fire Special Features Disc 2 (featuring "Creating the World of Harry Potter Part 4: Sound and Music")
Disc 16 - Goblet of Fire DVD

Disc 17 - Order of the Phoenix BD
Disc 18 - Order of the Phoenix Special Feature (featuring "Creating the World of Harry Potter Part 5: The Evolution of Harry Potter")
Disc 19 - Order of the Phoenix DVD

Disc 20 - Half-Blood Prince BD
Disc 21 - Half Blood Prince Special Features (featuring "Creating the World of Harry Potter Part 6: Special Effects)
Disc 22 - Half-Blood Prince DVD

Disc 23 - Deathly Hallows Pt 1 BD
Disc 24 - Deathly Hallows Pt 1 3D BD
Disc 25 - Deathly Hallows Pt 1 Special Features (featuring "Creating the World of Harry Potter Part 7: Growing Up Potter")
Disc 26 - Deathly Hallows Pt 1 DVD
Disc 27 - Deathly Hallows Pt 2 BD
Disc 28 - Deathly Hallows Pt 2 3D BD
Disc 29 -Deathly Hallows Pt 2 Special Features
Disc 30 - Deathly Hallows Pt 2 DVD
Disc 31 - Wizards Collection Exclusive Special Features Disc

18 Movie Discs, 13 Special Feature Discs

As mentioned, the special feature discs (except disc 31) mirror exactly what is in the Ultimate editions (2 each in the first 4, and 1 each in the rest). I don't think adding DVD supplements are necessary because no one is really buying this set for the DVD's. The DVD movies are sort of an extra bonus. I think we'll see a specific DVD only release and a Blu-ray only release too for a lot less than this Wizards collection (sub $200 I'd say).

I think this edition will also probably come with some sort of hardcover book combining all of the Creating the World of Harry Potter books from the Ultimate editions into one volume. That and probably some other bonus trinkets (trading cards, etc..) will help justify the high cost.

That's jsut my prediction, it could be totally wrong

Best Buy had it for like a whole month.

During Christmas they had crazy deals, they actually had Ben Hur UCE for $10.99 which is probably my Best Blu-ray "deal" ever.

For me I'm happy with the digibook. But if Best Buy never had that digibook version, I might be considering that UCE right now. But I really have no desire to upgrade. The bolded is why I have no desire to upgrade, because the digibook is the same 3 discs. I believe Ben Hur was the same scenario as well with the BBY exclusive digibook having the same discs, but since the UCE was only $10.99 I'm cool with all the extra trinkets thrown in for nothing. I wouldn't want to actually PAY for them though.
