Ive seen it and other BD players for $449 at many stores. Hopefully it will get a little bit cheaper before christmas.

As a followup to my previous post (#20), Canadian owners of the Sharp BD-HP20U can use the same firmware upgrade that was posted on the sharpusa.com web site.

According to Sharp US, US and Canadian vendors carry the exact same model. I'm still awaiting official confirmation from Sharp Canada (mainly because of warantee issues) but the response I received from Sharp US provided a definative answer to my question.

I was having the same problem as a Canadian consumer. I just got off the phone with "Chris" of the Canadian help line (905)568-7140 and he advised me that according to his senior advisor that the sharpusa.com download would work and that the warantee will not be voided.

Got mine tonight. Set up was a bit of work. First, I kept getting "Disc not inserted" even though I had put in a brand new Blu Ray Disc. (Ratatouille)

Then I tried to get the firmware updated, but I have a Mac, so for some reason it said that I had more than one file on the USB stick. Had to go to a friend who had a PC, installed the update and all was fine. After cleaning the Blu-ray Disc a few times, it worked. Does seem to take a while to load and I had set Quick Start

Other than that, so far so good. I got the unit at Future Shop for $399 cuz I got the 3 year FS warranty.

Hi, I got a problem with this player......

I'm from Malaysia and this player is know as BD-HP20A

Playing BR dics have no problem... but when come to DVD... it only can play Region 3....... I got some Region 1 DVD (Transformer!!!!) and it cannot be play....

Any idea how to resolve this problem?? Firmware updated but still same.....
