I don't know. Cameron is currently working on that project with the Marianas Trench and then he's prepping Avatar 2. While he releases a new movie every two years, he seems to be busy doing nothing. I'm just curious where he was when Terminator was being prepped for Blu-ray.

He's been diving for 10 years between Titanic and Avatar. Now he's doing it again. So making movies is his just his part-time job. He'll supervise a transfer when he has some spare time.

Considering that he's working on Titanic 3D not to mention other part time projects ... I think these titles will end up getting a delayed release, as have been with all of his projects.

I have yet to see Avatar and I still refuse to see it because of the Best Buy store chain.

What attracted me the most about The Abyss, was its soundtrack. Alan Silvestri score is gorgeous, (especially during the end credits) and the movie is good as well. I can't wait to hear it in lossless audio.

Always loved The Abyss. Unfortunately haven't watched it for years as l have found it to look truly horrid on HD tv's. The making of doco on the dvd which if l remember correctly is called Under Pressure is one of the most fascinating making of docos l have ever seen.
True Lies is also one of my favourite "grab the popcorn and switch off the brain" movies of all time.

True Lies was more than a bit cheesy but that definitely wasn't a bad thing. It was cheesy in that Star Wars/Raiders of the Lost Ark sort of way. It was just plain old fun from start to finish.

Actually, you're correct, it did receive a limited run in early 1993. My mistake.

Considering that it's already been given a "general" release date, it's not a wishlist topic. Bill Hunt at The Digital Bits doesn't report news as rumormill. He actually lists it as official news since the studio has plans for this release in 2013. I listed this topic as an announcement, not as a pre-order, which isn't available as a pre-order just yet.

By that logic, one could say the same thing as Jaws. lols

I have been craveing The Abyss ever since i gor a PS3, aside from T2, and Aliens. The Abyss is by far my most like JC film but i this also his most underrated film, i cant wait to see it in HD.

I dunno about that - are Raiders and Star Wars really cheesey? That term gets used in the wrong context sometimes, me thinks. Cheesey means bad effects, totally cliched characters, etc, etc.

For example, Top Gun is cheesey because its just soooooo over the top with the plot contrivances, cardboard characters, montage scenes, rockin 80's sound track, and all that good stuff. Maybe "campy" iis the right word here. Just a thought.

As for these realeases - True Lies was a fun watch in its day, we'll see how it holds up. You know how some of those 80's/90's flicks can be. The Abyss has its moments but ultimately I cant STAND when films have to ham-fist the anti nuclear, "dont fight amongst yourselves or we'll kill you" messages. That partially hurts the Abyss, IMO. Although, I think the ham-fisted message is only in the Directors cut and not in the theatrical.... I forget.

I'm with you. Actually I always want all different cuts of a movie if they ever exists. That's why I'm thinking of buying the theatrical cut of Dances With Wolves from Amazon UK.

the DVD i had of the Abyss had bolth on it i would hope they do the same for blu

The German steelbook has both cuts of Dances with Wolves, but it is region B locked.
