Criterion made my favorite GAME of the gen. But I firmly believe they are NOT the best studio this gen. Hot Pursuit was crap. Burnout Crash was crap. Are you telling me if a studio made your favorite game and then two other pieces of crap, you'd still stay it's the best studio? That's pretty absurd if so. Naughty Dog may not have made my absolute favorite game, but they have provided overall the best slate of games for the PS3. Them and Codemasters are some of my favorite studios, because they don't put out turds (yet). Burnout Paradise is my favorite game, but Criterion have been all over the map this gen (imo). Quote:
![]() That's gold. FYI, Santa Monica made God of War III, which, in my opinion, is better than anything Zipper has done for the PS3. I know you'll disagree, don't even bother wasting words on it haha. But Santa Monica has some EXTREMELY talented people, and I would think half the reason so many studios borrow them is for their knowledge and technical prowess. There's nothing wrong with that at all. |

Whenever stuff like this happens, I hope that the people got shuffled to other sony studios and kept their jobs. Same thing that I hoped for when BigBig was shut down. There's actually a guy that posts here who works (worked?) at Zipper. Wish him the best.

I don't know, does Sony own the IP? I think Slant Six did the PSP socom, I guess we could see it by another dev in the distant future?
![]() There is? I didn't know that. Hopefully he lands on his feet. Even if employees don't land within Sony studios hopefully they can go somewhere. |

Zipper is the epitome of a terrible developer.
They dont listen to their fans (ie, Patches in MAG screwed up things that were not broken, were answers for questions never asked, etc, all while the issues brought up by fans were ignored for months on end - SOCOM4 was a clusterF of fan rage as soon as the beta was started, and they just continued along like it was cool...they were going to get COD fanboys to play ![]() Pissing off your fans (ie pissing off FANBOYS) by ignoring them is a quick ticket to getting closed down. In the end it is fanboys who pitch your product, reliably buy, etc. not casuals. I wont miss zipper. The last couple of years it was run like dump by dump. It is just too bad that ZIPPER had to go, when it should have been the fools who drove it into the ground who got ended. I hope MAG2 or SOCOM5 will be dumped on another dev that can handle it. |
