Someone in Canada is buying the Viva Metalcase for me.

Sure, it's not a steelbook, but it has the superior title on it (The Avengers), the spine isn't as cluttered, it's guranteed to have interior and back art, and it includes a 3D disc (I won't ever use the disc, but it's a small price to pay for a superior product).

Oh, did I mention that it also has Paramount logos on the spine, and not Disney logos, so at least it'll match up with my Pre-Avengers steelbooks in a way.

As for the UK Disney steelbook version, I wouldn't touch that, even if I were the Hulk, lol.

They have just been getting worse, just ask anyone in the UK Disney thread
On the Disney UK blu-ray releases topic, we do kind of get short changed, even the diamond editions have been condensed within the UK considering that the latest (Lady and the Tramp) didnt come packaged with the DVD, whereas other region's did.

Also as a worthy point the recent UK release of Tarzan was abysmal to say the least, no doubt that other regions will get a better transfer with an HD audio track.

But not to get too off topic, ive ordered the Avengers steelbook regardless, im not going to complain getting the movie for £12.79 considering when its released i will likely be really short on cash, and this is a movie i obviously really want to have in my collection, so yer regardless seems like a really good deal to me!

Just pre-ordered also the 20% code can be used multiple times which is good, pre-order a couple of other steels in a separate order

I'd much prefer the USA/CA version if it werent for that god awful plastic rim going all the way around the case
May try and get the viva box or the german release as I'm now wanting both title variations (I love the movie too much )
Plus for £12.80 I cant really complain for a nice steel - text on the back doesnt bother me as its never displayed backwards. So long as the spine and front are done well I can deal with Disney's obsession of printing text on the rear

As for the single disc edition, I'd already prepared myself for needing to double dip for a Steel and then the 3D set (as I did with Thor and CA) so considering I can re-sell the 2D parts of the 3D set for almost cost price I'm not too fussed (essentially I got the 3D disc's for less than a fiver for both Thor and CA so hoping to do same again)

I dont know if it would be any use but maybe send your SB complaints/concerns hmv via twitter @hmvtweets
Play.com are fairly receptive via twitter and maybe HMV are too

Finally got it ordered last night, as it was only £12 I ordered the 3D one too, which although it says £21.99 is in fact £17.99 BEFORE the 20% off.

While I'm not surprised by this news (is anyone?), I was at least hoping for a Blu-ray DVD combi. I know a lot of people don't see the point, but I for one don't have a Blu-ray player in every room in the house or on my laptop.

Agreed! I always try to get combi packs for the exact same reason. However Disney UK have stopped bundling DVD's with all their blu-ray releases, which is rather unfortunate! :/

Based on the past, I think this is going to follow the trend (printed back, rating logos, 1 disc)

Looks like we have some Stingy execs in the UK branch who don't care about the customers.

If your on facebook theres a comment on their wall from Dinolast you could 'like' or comment on about the Avengers steel our likes and dislikes regarding blu banners and printed info, and Disneys poor efforts where steelbook designs go (just look in the 'recent posts by others on HMV' on the right hand side of their page) might not make much difference but you never know, every little helps.....

Put an order in for this and for the 3D version. but I'll probably end up cancelling the 3D one. I'll wait and see what happens. Great price though with the code!

Just to let you guys know, this is a HMV exclusive steelbook and also considering that's the case, i think we need to start protesting to the relevant parties now before they start actually finalising the design so they can rectify the normal absymal quality of the steelbooks here in the UK

The relevant party here would be Disney - they offer HMV the exclusive but it's Disney's product and their decision on designs and content.

Other than Disney's DMR I've no idea how I'd go about contacting them

is there a UK specific social network presence for Disney? *goes to look*

but considering the prices of the 3D and Steelbooks with this weekends discount, I've ordered them regardless. There;s a few months for me to change my mind if need be
(though I'm thinking of getting UK and DE SB's cos the collector in me wants variation even though I despise the 'Avenger Assemble' title)

I'm fine with the name by now, sure it would be nice to have have Avengers but when people think about it, we can be 'unique' cause we're pretty much the only people with the name lol.

OT though, i think even pestering HMV or whoever at Disney will eventually get the message to the right people as long as you keep pestering away. If somebody can do that for us as a spokesperson or give details for others to do so as well, we can all do so in unison.

At this stage, the only way this steel coudbe saved is if it was designed with just the stylised A and it being emmbossed all in silver.

That way we get around the Assemble rubbish. But I'm betting it will be the poster with the title, nothing more :/ I still hold out hope that it will be decent. FOX managed to change their ways so maybe this could be the start for Disney Steels.

Right now though, I'm at a loss, I want the de 3D steelbook, but want the UK one too. But then i would want to UK 3D version as well. I might end up buying all 3

I've ordered the 3D version and the steelbook. Funny that, i didn't even bat an eye lid at ordering both. Must be because i see a HMV exclusive in the same vein that was like Thor and Captain America. They're gonna become hard to find and this version is ONLY available in the UK at one retailer.

I'm hoping for a 3D version steelbook but looks unlikely and you never know, the triple play version might actually be given instead but highly unlikely given the price this was listed at maybe?
