I'm gonna buy this and I'm keeping all of my previous releases of it as well. This is the movie that I'm a sucker for and will buy every version. What's funny is it's not even my favorite film and yet I love it enough to own all versions.

I'm not seeing the value in this set. The SW 6 film/9 disk set didn't cost much more at $70 or $80.

This is a single film with multiple cuts--closer to the avatar SE with 3 versions, which retails for around $25 or $30.

A new encode without Warners' usual filtering (remember, the existing encode was created with HD DVD's limitations in mind) would let the movie look as good as it possibly could on home video. But new encodes are anathema to the folks at Burbank.

Are you sure? Source?

edit: OK, it's stated on this site but I do not know if this is confirmed...

IF Warner would just let everyone know if the films have new encodes and the other versions have uncompressed audio tracks that would be the selling point for me. Maybe the Final cute will have a dts track after all.... if so possibly a new encode for the FINAL Cut versions as well. (we all want the DOC in HD also... Digital bits confirmed w./ WB it wouldn't be but Bill Hunt @ digital bits said to take it to their facebook pages etc and beg for it.)

I don't have the original release, getting this for sure. The new AVC encode & DTS-HD MA would be a nice bonus. The original release is out-of-print already, they're actually refreshing this title in the market for those that haven't own it yet. So double-dipping or not is really up to yourself.

I wonder if the theatrical cut will be in DTS-HD instead of Dolby Digital 5.1.

I don't really want to buy this if the packaging is huge, but I missed out on the previous release, and I need to own this! Luckily I have it preordered already through my Gold Box, and hopefully the price comes down even more.

Highly doubtful on that.

However, I would pay a hundred dollars just for that alone.

Wow. Thanks for link.

Fancher had written the Deckard character for Robert Mitchum, a noir star then in his 60s. The producers considered nearly every leading man of the day: Sean Connery, Jack Nicholson, Paul Newman, Clint Eastwood, Peter Falk, Al Pacino, Nick Nolte, Burt Reynolds. They wasted months detoured on Dustin Hoffman. Somebody floated Arnold Schwarzenegger’s name, and this was before he’d made his first hit, Conan the Barbarian. Then Scott and Deeley saw rushes from Raiders of the Lost Ark, and they had their star.

I can absolutely see Robert Mitchum as Deckard 100%.

But Dustin Hoffman? Ehh...I don't think so.

Ah ha! So, some kind of unpainted (mostly) Spinner. It looks neat-o. It looks bigger than the one in the Briefcase, but, truth be told my briefcase is still sealed so I don't know for sure.

Probably going to sell my 5-Disc Edition for this. Here's hoping for a new encode....
