Watched There's No Business Like Show Business in it's entirity today and must say - I was impressed.
Although the picture quality ranged from fair (very grainy and low res) to very good (medium grain and excellent detail), the screen was always filled with great colour. The transfer seemed a bit "wide" right through, though not distractingly so. The AQ was very good with a surprising amount of "oomph" on the many musical numbers. The highlight for me was Donald O'Conners "dancing around the fountain" number, but apart from a few super corny Merman/Daily scenes, the rest of the film was entertaining. Extras are only trailers (same as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes). PQ: 3/5 to 4/5 AQ: 4/5 (age of film taken into consideration). |

Has anyone bought Marilyn The Premiere Collection dvd set? or know anything about it? It has 17 Marilyn Monroe movies and came out the same time as Marilyn Forever Blu-ray. I was trying to figure out if they are new digitally remastered transfers, or if they are the same dvds that came out in the Diamond Collection just repackaged. I don't want to re buy them if they are the same as the dvd's i already have

Interesting. I remember seeing these in the store and was staring at the cover and I didn't see it mention "anamorphic" anywhere. It just said "Widescreen" and the aspect ratio.

I am talking about the Diamond sets that came out several years ago, and the anamorphic info I got off the individual DVD cases, not the box cover.

This set has a pretty hefty price tag. Right now, "The Seven Year Itch" BD is available for pre-order at Amazon for only $8.86. If you can get the other 6 movies for the same price or less, then it's actually cheaper to buy these separately.

That's not a cause for concern? To not have your discs secured? |

Can someone post a picture that shows how the discs are housed? I really want to see what the fuss is about.

Foxconnect shipped mine yesterday from Alabama, I won't get it here outside of Tucson until Thursday or so. Looks like I'll be returning it. The housing of the discs doesn't bother me so much, but I was looking forward to displaying the boxset on a top shelf, but it sounds like a better fit for the one shelf of DVDs I still have left. ![]() Off to Wallyworld to get the individual releases. |
