Since the re-make features a vampire crest with a crown on the top.
They did a very good job with the remake.
There were certain risks they decided to take on the remake and enough changes to the characters that I think made it feel more genuine as a modern interpretation or dramatic re-envisioning rather than just a step-by-step re-make.
Also, the 3D option of the re-make helps to further its entertainment value.
It'd be hard to tell somebody from the younger generation who's just seen the new one in 3-D to enjoy the original as thoroughly.
As deep as my sentimental attachment goes for the original, the remake is better.

The new movie is not bad but in reality it was lacking some charm. In fact they could have call the movie anything else beside Fright Night and there would have been no problem. It was nothing more than a typical 21st century horror movie. The original had a certain charm to it that even now almost 30 years later is still there. The main problem with Hollywood these days is that movies are lacking charm, lacking in story, they just all look the same, lot's of SUPER COOL CGI to make the audience forget that there is nothing else to see. Plust let's just add 3D to hide the fact that we can't write a dialogue to save our lives.
