Still not up on youtube for Dredd 3D trailer actually in 3D and the movie starts tomorrow.

I saw a new trailer on TV and it was a lot better than the one I saw in theaters. Dredd 3D being filmed in 3D, I'm looking forward to seeing it. Just wished they called it "Dredd" and left off the "3D" part, leaving it separately for just the poster or box art. If there's a sequel, they wouldn't call it "Dredd 3D 2", at least I hope they wouldn't call it that.

Here's hoping the movie does well despite the competition. It's got a tough battle ahead.

I think there's a chance the movie could perform well . The unexpectedly high rottontomatoes tomatoes score is definitely a good sign I hope. Going to check this out at midnight in 3d! Can't wait

I saw this last week and loved it

The violence is brutal and the 3D it top notch - Stunning aerial shots and glass and blood constantly flying off the screen.

I really hope this make enough to get a sequel

I need to see the 3d for this again. Saw it tonight at midnight in 3d and must have had messed up projection again like I did yesterday with Finding Nemo in 3d(that one looked excellent in 3d after they fixed it. With Dredd, things still felt off to me, as if the projectionist lazily did the bare minimum to fix the 3d that was not giving the visual signals with the g
glasses on), cause I'm not sure entirely what to think of the 3d. Their we're more than a handful if strong 3d shots, yet it felt like their we're others that were either flat, or just being clear enough to see depth because of my bad projection suspicions.

Anyways, I thought the film itself was excellent. Excellent acting, atmosphere, effects, and soundtrack. The action was pretty fun too. Most of the SLOWMO shots were breathtaking in 3d(plus I found that whole concept of the drug very clever). The film was also hilarious at times with it's rather cruel sense of humor.

A thumbs up from me(and for now I'll say thumbs up on the 3d, because my main problem I think was just bad projection, which lately I think has just been because of the theater getting ready to move to their new location about a mile or 2 away)

Mseeley,

Dredd 3D was a good movie, agreed.

But the 3D in Dredd 3D I thought could have been better, even though we did get some really strong 3D here and there. But yeah, there were a lot of shots that for some reason looked really flat as a pancake.

I wouldn't say the whole movie, but enough to notice. It wasn't the projector, as when the movie first started playing, I thought the same thing and actually flipped my 3D glasses upside down, thinking that maybe the movie WAS reversed for the 3D, but it was playing correctly (confirmed with the strong 3D in Silent Hill 3D and the new Hobbit 3D trailer).

I still liked a good percentage of the 3D, but they could have done a better job with keeping things consistent, as they did with Prometheus 3D.

Great action. Dredd was nearly unstoppable but had to take cover like any human. The cute lady cop was good too.

According to 3D Focus, there were 84 converted shots in Dredd. I haven't seen it, but I wonder if those were the ones that you guys thought looked too flat.

That's the other thing too: the projection was all messed up during the previews, which started with the Silent Hill trailer that I hadn't seen in 3d before(I was so upset that they didn't get it fixed till the trailer ended, but I gathered that it must have looked amazing in 3d, because I noticed a LOT of double images )

But yeah I can see what your saying about the movie just having inconsistent 3d. I'm still gonna give the movie another whirl in 3d mostly because I want to see the movie again anyways. I might have better luck next time I hope

How did the new just released 3d trailer for the hobbit look in 3d. I thought I would get that trailer, but alas it was just the first 3d trailer

Wow, I had no idea about this 0.0. That might explain it,mbut I think it will look better if I go a second time under the right conditions. Again, I think my Cinemark has just had iffy 3d showings lately due to their getting ready to move to their new location.

I'm going to see if I can spare another eight bucks this week and go see it Monday or Tuesday. I really want to see those trailers as well, hope I get to see both of them. Hobbit and Silent Hill.

garbage movie with garbage 3d effects. Just didn't make much sense on the way they use the 3D. Total waste. I wanted to leave 20 mins into the show.

I saw this movie today. I wasn't stoked about this film from the trailers, but the positive reviews made me give it a chance, and I'm glad I did. The action was great, the tongue-in-cheek dialogue was fun... The only thing I didn't like was the 3d. It looked phenomenal in multiple scenes, but was unimpressive throughout most of the movie.

Thanks BleedOrange. Someone mentioned some images looked off for the 3D, maybe these were the ones? Or maybe they were just learning the equipment and how to do 3D while on the set...

That stinks they didn't have it set up and tested before they started playing the previews. My Cinemark has been great for the past six years for the most part. Prior to that, they were hit or miss with getting the movies to play right without a hitch.

They were both awesome for 3D, and they look like good movies also.

Dredd the movie won't appeal to everyone, just like any movie. It's violent with lots of action and like most action movies, Dredd's has to take down the bad guys.

Saw it this morning. The only let down for me was the time period it's in. I thought we would see a lot more futuristic but it's more of a modern period in the near future.

Now, the 3D is amazing. It's done very very well and you won't be disappointed at all even in the dark scenes.

Will pick it up for sure when it comes out in Blu.

They said they didn't have the budget to focus on the outside environment. They are hoping it makes enough money to do a more open world in the sequel, but it's not looking good at the Box Office.

I saw that truly truly depressing. Such a good movie too. I sense a possible cult following for this movie if things continue to develop the way they are.

Even so, the box office for movies ever since summer ended has been really really sad I hate the idea that people don't want to go to the movies anymore

This is a transition period this time of year, usually when movies take a nosedive in intake, since people are going back to school or college. But even back then, I'd always try to find time to see a new movie at least once a month at the very least. Homework, studying, after school activities on weekends probably takes over.

Fall and winter seem to be slow for movies in general. Dredd would have done better if it released in August.

This is one cheesy movie. Bad acting. Poor script. Weak 3D IMO. They did a lot of 3D and special effects on things that didn't require special effects. I can understand someone jumping off a building or something. But they went overboard for special sequences that wasn't so special. The movie was cheesy and only a small group of certain types of people will find this movie to be "good". The box office numbers speaks for itself.

BigJayJay,

What would be some of your suggestions that would have made this a better movie (other than suggesting it should never have been made)?
